Sleeping Dogs Crashes
Ever since I started playing, I was experiencing a few crashes when my game froze and alt-tabbed. The sounds kept playing as it was alt-tabbed. I couldn't move my mouse until I had to get rid of it with Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Now, i'm stuck on the mission Club Bam Bam. I've crashed in that mission more than 10 times. The earliest point I crashed was at the bouncer, and the latest point I crashed was when you fought thugs on the first floor. Can someone please help me? I tried all the solutions and they didnt work at all. I really need some help here. Does anyone else get this?

I have the exact same problem as well. I haven't even passed the opening part of the game because of it. I have actually tried multiple things to get it working but nothing has helped so far. It's honestly very annoying and makes me feel like I just wasted some money on this game.

My specs, to help anyone who may know some sort of fix:
Windows 7 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti(2gb)
AMD FX 6120 Six-Core Processor
10gb RAM

I can't even make it to a gameplay segment other than the run after the drug bust. It used to crash right at the end of that. I lowered the AA a bit and now I'm able to make it to the part where you meet his old friend after you get out of jail. It doesn't make any sense with the setup I have and it makes me angry to think about how ridiculous it is that I can't play this game I just bought with the level of hardware that I have.

Windows 7 64-bit
XFX Double D HD 7970 Black Edition
Intel i7 3930K
Asus Sabertooth X79
16GB RAM

I've set my graphics all to lowest, which is normal, turned shadows and AA off, but kept the resolution. I've tried to set the resolution to 640x480 but it still crashed anyway.

(Here's a re-post (of a post) of solutions for those who have had loading and crashing issues)
So I've come across and compiled some solutions people have found and I would like to share them here, they could help those who might still need it, so here they are (see which one(s) method(s) could do the trick, perhaps try the solutions in part 2 first, or however you'll try):
Part 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w97PcxZsCPM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxHOkA0hdm4 in the description under the video are links to an kind of patch fix which looks like people have had success with. Although I don't know exactly how/I haven't needed to use it, I guess place it in your game folder and then just click it and it updates?, if you don't know pm the uploader or what not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoOpdxSE8bo
---
Alternatively, If none of those necessarily work, perhaps at first? (perhaps some other tweak like with something below, and then go back to one of the methods above or another, this is all 'individual' cases..) I don't know it the following will necessarily help the next person, but these are some of the only steps I had previously done and I have been able to play on my laptop.

Although initially I had the hkship.exe error popup here and there, and like 3 times crashed, but it seemed after I closed some other programs/things going on, I reload my game and it would start up fine again.

So what I found and done in some of my research as suggested from a source is download these software:
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24872
Visual C++ 2008 (86x)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29

Again, these are the only things I've done and I can play for a long time if I want without much issues. According to the source I found these are required things one also needs/should have to be able to play the game properly. I'm personally playing on low setting and a lower resolution/smaller pop out window - mainly because I am on laptop that barely meets the rec specs to play without lag, but it works for me and I am just fine with how it is. Thus don't be afraid to set some of these kinds of things lower than necessarily maxed out everything or something, if it is needed and or helps with any performance issues like lag or what not, you may not need to, just saying.

Part 2
And to recap some of the other things mentioned which I've compiled, if need be:
-have/install the latest DirectX
-install/updade the latest BETA graphics driver, same goes for nVidia GPU's.
(Just to make sure, perhaps uninstall your old driver)
-antivirus might be blocking SD, like AVG, someone else brought up theatrefire was blocking, and it can auto enable itself after turn it off, so find the option to stop that from happening
-verify the integrity of game cache (might need to restart steam/PC)/ and then/or run game as administrator
-install all your Windows Updates.
-install the latest .net Frameworks.
--here's 2 posts i found of others if they are needed to try:
-just getting back into PC gaming, I was freezing at loading screen for about a week, thought I had downloaded correct AMD drivers and pc was not reading them correctly, found out that I had to bypass digitally signed drivers by pressing F8 during pc start up and disabling them, Sleeping dogs now works, if this helps just one person then its worth my posting this
-mine crashed a few times. I have a AMD card too. I just went to my power plan in control panel and changed it high performance. I think it may have been my power supply choking my card. Its 400 w powering a 6850. Another option would be to Google Gameboster which cuts out unnecessary programs while gaming.

Got the 7970 Double D Stock Clocked Updated Drivers for the CCC 12.11 beta Far Cry 3 Crashes Saints row 3 crashes and sleeping Dogs Crashes
benchmarked this PC Using Unigine Heaven got great results . but some of these games cause none stop crashes as well get a video driver display has failed and has been recovered

system spec
FX-6100 oc- 3.6 Ghz
XFX 7970 DD
Asus M5A97 Motherboard
8 GB Kingston Hyper X Ram 2x4
M4 SSD 256 GB
Antec 620 cooler Push Pull
OCZ ModXstream Pro 700w Psu
Zalman Z-11 Plus High Performance Case

Tryed Formatting PC Updating Drivers same thing happends
only thing differnt in this case at the moment when all of this happend is the GPU .
now I am on the Fence about RMA'ing this card at the moment mainly because these crashes only seem to happen in game and are a bit random
Far Cry 3 very shuttery even with the updates and crashes alot
Sleeping Dogs the HKship Crashes the game
Saints Row 3 Random and without warning

But when benching the card which i am sure all XFX will do all seems fine .....

Have you tried everything kvleggo23 said? So far, I tried the videos, the 2nd video's patch didnt work. And the others didnt neither. I've installed the framework and C++, but I haven't tried SD yet.

I'm actually thinking of going the RMA route as well, and already have a support ticket submitted through the XFX site.

I tried playing some Metro 2033 and Witcher 2 and am having the same issues that I'm having with Sleeping Dogs now even though Metro ran fine when I first got the card. Have you tried running it through a Furmark benchmark? I have and it crashes about 1 minute into the test on average with the fan being extremely slow to ramp up from what I can tell. Even when I've only seen the temp at 65C I'm still getting these crashes though. This is also with the 12.11 beta recently installed.

I just got the game Renegade Ops and it's crashing in the same way SD does. Freeze, alt tab, then the sounds keep playing and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del it.

I also had this problem & tried all sorts of stuff to fix it. In the end I had to update my graphics card BIOS (not just the drivers but the BIOS as well). It runs like a dream now - been playing for 6 hours straight without a single hickup
