Help! Something wrong on launch

When the game launches it says "could not initialize direct3d" please help

Try using the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" by right clicking on the game and then accessing properties -> local files.
If that fails, try downloading Directx from Microsofts homepage: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/179113
