if this is the reason it is an extremely stupid reason. I mean shouldn't the announcer know my gender if he can call me by my nickname? also I've played a lot of racing games and this is the first time I'm called they by the announcer. seems like something they didn't finish, unless they think it's cool to have the announcer bark "they this" and "they that" about everybody in the race making the commentary useless since everybody is "they". very strange.

Actually, I think they either ran out of time or energy to personalize the announcements. It's almost as if they were planning on inserting a customized announced player name but then decided against it.

Not all gamers are male. The announcer addresses the player as "they" so Codemasters aren't seen as sexist.

true. they should have had a female / male option when creating the character or something... all I know is that in dirt 2 the announcers were great. seems the took a big step backwards. why is my nickname not used? weird.
