If there was a game that screams multi monitor setup it would be this one.... holy crap that looks good!
That is . . . rather staggering. X: Rebirth might be one of those rare games I deem worthy of its full price.

-10% off preorders through steam
yeah I did see that too, but in some online stores the steam version is only 33 euro. I will still wait some more see what is gonna happen.
It seems like they took all the stuff that made X3tc/ap great and removed them, then added in a bunch of fluff that is just going ot make the game sillier.

No ability to own huge fleets of ships.
No ability to fly in any ship you want.
No ability to quickly click through various menus (now you have to walk around your ship to find specific crew members to do the tasks for you)
Only fly in one ship.
A silly system of having to walk aimlessly through space stations which I'm sure are all going to be mirror copies of eachother.

I will give them credit, it sounds like the factory/complex system now works, ie. no more having to go crazy trying to get your stupid complex connecter nodes all lined up perfectly.

Less sandbox, now you are forced in your one ship to fly a specific plot (since some crew members are plot necessary to get).

I want to give this game a shot, but I wanted an improved X3TC/AP, not something completely different from what we are all used to.

As someone who couldn't get into this series due to the complexity of the menus I think a lot of these are simplifications to make the game more acessible. I will definitely be buying this game because of some of these changes, but I can 100% understand where you're coming from. I wasn't too happy when Civilization was simplified either.

I don't think that's true. You can assign crew members to other ships and issue orders. You just can't fly them yourself.

No ability to fly in any ship you want.

I'm skeptical of this as well.

No ability to quickly click through various menus (now you have to walk around your ship to find specific crew members to do the tasks for you)

Come on now. The menu system in previous X games was, at best, very clunky. Something needed to change.

Only fly in one ship.

Yes, but presumably it will be highly customizable. Exactly how well this goes over is a big wait-and-see. Regardless, I wouldn't rule out this being changed by a mod very soon after release.

A silly system of having to walk aimlessly through space stations which I'm sure are all going to be mirror copies of eachother.

Aimlessly? Really? And I don't think you have the requisite information for claiming that all of the stations are copies of each other. They might very well be, but let's rein in the brooding pessimism until there's a reason for it, eh?

Less sandbox,

You don't know that.

now you are forced in your one ship to fly a specific plot (since some crew members are plot necessary to get).

That doesn't necessarily equate to "less sandbox." You don't even know how that one ship is going to function yet.

I want to give this game a shot, but I wanted an improved X3TC/AP, not something completely different from what we are all used to.

I think Egosoft recognizes that previous titles have been convoluted and difficult to get into, and I think they want to change that. For one, I'm glad.

I can tell you for sure you only fly one ship but the other ships you own are drones which you can fly directly as if your siting in it except for capital ships which you must give orders to.

Stations insides maybe same everywhere cause they are made up modules which are standarized. Maybe each race would customize a standard look though.

The older x games werent complete rewrites due the fact they left stuff in from the previous game if you opened the script editor. For example the cloaking device from x2 was still in x3 ap even though it never worked outside mission in x2.
