Do not buy Cave Story plus or any other game that has the "Nicalis" logo plastered on the game. There is no sale in sight for CS +, and they upped the price with no real Content updates as they promised. Go play the freeware version by Pixel.

I am not sure how Publisher and dev money exchange work so I cannot answer that. But All I can say is that I am pretty sure Nicalis gets a Bigger share of the money from sales. If you bought the game with the intention to support Pixel that is all fine and good. What I am saying is that Nicalis has basically lied to of the Cave Story community and are taking your money with that lie..

on their page it states there will be "Future Content Updates" when there has been no updates, unless you take bug fixes or minor patches as "Content". They also increased the price of the game from 9.99 to 14.99 with no sale in sight, lets be reasonable here, Cave Story is a very good game, but it is not worth 15 bucks. AT MOST it is worth 5 to 7 bucks, 10 in itself was a stretch.

Again I do not know how much of the money goes directly to Pixel, but seeing how the freeware version is still out and he has not commented on the price increase I will go out on a limb and say he probably either gets very little of the cut, or none at all.

If what you are trying to say is that CaveStory+ is no different from the freeware, then please listen. This port of CaveStory is really just an enchancment, and I do agree that it is a little overpriced. But things like new soundtacks and 3 new modes have been added. If what you are trying to say is that this is so NICALiS gets money, think about what the purpose of a company is. To make money by selling products, of course. If you don't want CaveStory+ then don't buy it. Although, I can agree with the "Future Content" thing.

There is a difference of course, but I feel the added content does not justify the price tag. I already have Cave Story + (got it as a gift). I know a companies job is to make money, but the way NICALiS does it is so sneaky. They increased the price with no reason why and with out warning, and they promise future content updates but other than what the game launched with the game remains the same.

prob my fav game ive ever gotten in a humble bundle. im a big 2d side scroller/metroidvania fan. and imo this is one of the best 2d sidescroller games on steam, the game is epic.

the op ist right about lots of things though.......

but if your a fan of old metroidvania type games and money isnt an issue this game is a must play

You stated that you think that Pixel doesn't get much or ANY of the money. That's a false statement if you think about the fact that Pixel quit his job as a software programmer to help produce CaveStory+ and CaveStory 3D. So he probably gets paid, right?

Wait he did? I actually did not know about that, I thought he only remade the soundtrack and the rest was NICALiS. So yeah,I guess he does get paid off of this. But at the same time if it was all about "making dat dough" for Pixel he would have probably tried to get the freeware version removed since it is basically the same game.

I will change my stance that, unless you reaaaalllyyy want to support Pixel and his work, you can go ahead and buy it, but keep in mind NICALiS will get their share and you are in a way helping the good guy along with the bad guy.

I noticed this crap too. I've had Cave Story+ on my wishlist for 5 months. Now with the price jacked upto $15, even if it does go "on sale," it still might not be under the $10 price tag it held just a few months ago... I've checkled the humble store every week, and steam as well. The origional game is 10 years old. Even this enhanced version is 3 years old. The price increase just seems like a slap in the face.

im a huge 2d sidescroller/metroidvania fan, and while 15 bux may seem expensive for an old retro style game, all i can say is u will still get more then your money worth.

this game is def without a doubt one o the best of its type on steam, ive played most of em too.

been playig a lil rogue legacy and shovel kniht recently and both games arnt half the game cave story is. 4 rogue legacy and shovel knight i dont rec spending more then 5 bux each, actually i think shovel knight is only worth 2-4 bux.

the cave story music alone is worth more then rogue legacy and shovel knight imo.

does it suck this game raised its price and didnt have a xmas sale? yes

take it from a cheap poor gamer with good taste, if u like this type of game u will def love cave story and feel like u got good value even at 15$

They did add the Halloween graphics and the Machine Gun challenge... but hearing of them upping the price does make me dissaprove and frown.
Whether the price fits or not--- Shovel Knight is arround the same size quality and price,
raising the amount is no good.

It's hard to throw down $15 on a game that the devs hardly touch anymore. Then you have a game like Son of Nor that's almost done with early access. They have a new dev video for the game almost every week, and with all they plan to do, $15 seems like a great investment. Cave Story + on the other hand is pretty much done doig anything in the future from what I can tell. As far as I know, Pixel isn't even helping make these Halloween cosmetic changes.
