Trial version?

I'm already using Sony Vegas Pro 12 on my main PC, but having editing software I can download on any one of my PCs via steam is a prospect that sounds appealing to me. However, first I'd like to know if this editing software is actually worth a damn. I've used some pretty bad movie editing tools in my time so I will NOT drop $100 on an untested product. A trial version would reassure those in my position and probably even get you more sales.
