A Game of Dwarves

A Game of Dwarves

Is it still kind of alpha or so?
I mean I constantly see dwarves got stuck (in middle of the room).
In the trial I found a (bed) room near the treasure chamber with props and part of the room where it shouldn't. (some of those walls weren't accessable ... I mean I could remove stuff from them but not place.)
One time I moved a ladder and from that on I couldn't place the ladder there.
Once I the lighting stoped working correctly... everything was bright even where it should be dark.
Often the animation stops (especially when they are off to eat) and they just float to the location instead of walking ...
and many many more.
If I reload the game it actually works again, but then all dialogs will be replayed... (annoying)
The intro animation is kinda nice and funny, but if you have to wait each time to be able to access the menu (or to end it prematurely) its getting annoying. The menu should be in foreground while in background the animation is playing ... at least if you have seen it once.

No, its finished product that they, it seems, abandoned completly. There are no patches, updates, no response from devs, no dlc... nothing. When the game came out it had much potential and they actualy worked on it. Then they sudenly stopped. They should be ashamed.
That is basicly such a great game, so much pontential, too.

Its a shame that is so buggy.

Agree with the other posters. Much potential but not worth the bugs.

I can skip the intro animation by hitting Escape a few times. Apart from that I agree about the bugs though. And the performance is really pretty bad considering the relative simplicity of the game.

If you're wondering if it's been abandoned, just click the official wiki link on the bottom-left of the main menu - Completely gone.

Overall 'Abandoned Beta' is probably a fair description for the state the game is in.
Yeah, totally abdonned ...
facebook last entry 20. April 2013 ...
last official announcement 13-03-2013, 19:15 quote: "A Game of Dwarves is now complete!" (means no further development in any way)

08-04-2013 23:57 the (last?) mod closed the thread "Has development ended for aGoD?" with quote: "But I'll be locking this thread as theres not much point to it anymore."

I was totally missing when it was released, wich basically means not enough advertise for that game... and the it was abdonned cause it has sold badly and even the DLC haven got it on course....

I also think reducing the price too fast is wrong... it was different back then when it meant a game which was half a year old was totally technically outdated and pirated copyed so much that it was just a wonder if anyone payed something for it.

I think at first it should get more content for free as the time goes on ... for all who have bought the game at full price. Instead of making the game dirt cheap and gathering a few cent from a dirt cheap DLC. Minecraft is selling that way for years now (first way not the later one)...

Selling it as "Well, you have still to pay the full price, but you get all the development till now"

But so it was abdoned... even before people could tell other poeple who could tell other people how cool it is.. somwhat buggy ...(but still in development, so it gets better ... this part was more wishing)

Ya, that was my thread on the Paradox forum. Very disappointed to see development ended so abruptly for this game. Zeal fixed a bunch of things, though, and even added some stuff that players wanted but in the end I think the game just didn't receive the kind of financial support it needed to keep going. The game was only 20 bucks out of the gate, and I feel like I certainly got my money's worth out of the purchase.

It certainly lacks polish, but there's still a good bit of creative fun to be had with it.

Check out a game called Craft the World here on Steam for a great alternative to aGoD...

The company went out of business.

This is what I was told regarding Zeal when I contacted Paradox about the broken achievements in November.

Johannes, Nov 29 14:43 (CET):
Unfortunately we won't be able to solve these issues since the developer doesn't exist any more, but I'll see what we can do.

Me, Nov 29 22:25 (CET):
What happened to Zeal? How do you know they do not exist? I couldn't find any information to indicate the company was dissolved or otherwise not in business so I was curious.

Johannes, Dec 06 15:59 (CET):
The unfortunately went out of business about a year ago, it isn't easy to survive as a minor developer in the gaming industry today. It is a sad truth, especially since I personally liked their games.

I'll pass on your information and hopefully the producers can do something with it to help improve the game for you. I can't promise anything but maybe, just maybe, someone will be able to help.

Big pity that this never got "Finished" but yeah I think of this as a completed beta (thats never going to get better) it's good to play as is but could have easily been much better with very little effort, wish they had have at least made all the items in the shop free as a thanks for supporting us kinda thing
