Worms is dead. There is no God.
Why is it that the console Worms community is vibrant and active but on PC there aren't ANY players online, EVER? Is there some trick outside of adding (potentially serial killery) people to my friendslsit that I don't know? Somekind of hidden server options or something?

I find console worms to be just as dead mate, if not more. Though if you see things the other way round, then I don't blame you. Worms was a game designed for the couch, have a few laughs with your friends, and a bit of drink. Quite social, I might add.

I haven't played on PC in a while but I've found that on PS4 I generally don't have too much trouble finding matches. The thing that sucks, however, is that most games hosted are beginner, and most custom scheme games that I join are dumb as hell, full of super weapons and crap like infinite ropes. Out of the default (non-custom) schemes, I find Darkside to be the most strategic and fun. :TheSkunk::Skunk:

Personally I find darkside to be misleading. There are a lot of darksiding tools that are excluded. The only things they got right were the blowtorches. No teleporters either. I know teleporters can be lightsided weapons because you can teleport to darksiders and all...But you're giving up your own turn and could potentially be mowed down by the darksider.

By the way skunk3, what do you think about worm select? I think that it should be utilised a bit more, I get that it can make the game too easy, but unless teleport in is on, your worms can be in the most unfair positions.

AFAIK Darkside has teleports... ? It's been a while since I've played Rev but I know that in CW/Battlegrounds, Darkside definitely has teleports. I think that worm select is a fine utility, but I don't like it when people make a scheme in which you have worm select at the start of each turn. I get the pros and the cons of it, but I personally just don't like it. I like having to remember turn order. Whenever I make a scheme, it always has at least one worm select. It is a good way to judge another player, too. If you see someone use worm select to do something dumb like grab a crate, or do pull off some non-lethal attack, you can kinda assume that they aren't that great of a player. Worm select IMO should be saved until the very end. What usually happens in a match is that I will have 2-4 worms left by sudden death, and my opponent, one. If my worms are separated, they will try to teleport to my worm that just had a turn to take advantage of turn rotation. This is when it is great to have a select worm, because you can use it and kill/move/attack the enemy worm, and if the worm lives, it's your turn next anyway and you can probably finish the job as long as you have enough hp and you're in a safe location. (e.g. not able to be one-shotted, like with a baseball bat, for instance)

The only Worms games that I play these days are W:A and Battlegrounds. The default schemes in Battlegrounds are almost all crap. The Pro scheme is the one that bothers me the most, as it is the one you play for ranked matches. There's far too many mobility items. If they'd just take out the aqua pack, the teleport guns, and add a teleport, it'd be decent. I stopped playing ranked because the ranking system is garbage and means nothing. All they factor in is total wins vs. total losses/draws. All you have to do in order to be ranked high is to have more wins than losses. If you play a ton of ranked, you can be a mediocre player and still be ranked high as long as you win more than you lose. After about 140 matches I got bored with it. I think that the ranking system should be far more comprehensive, both game-side and community-side. Players should be able to rank/review other players, and game-side, the stats should track lots of stuff: disconnects/quits, total wins/losses/draws, etc... basically everything that you can view of yourself. (At least in CW/Battlegrounds) I'd also like to see more in-depth stats, such as the average number of worms remaining at the end of a round, average hp, average round time (in minutes), average damage per turn, average damage per weapon, etc. I want REALLY in depth stats publically available.

The problem with these newer Worms games is that they are designed for consoles. I get it.. Team17 wants to be able to market the games to the widest audience possible; however, PC is where Worms belongs. The primary reason why W:A is still going strong after all these years is because it was designed specifically for the PC and takes advantage of far more customization that is possible in the newer titles, not to mention loads of community created content. Anyway, that's a whole other rant that I've blathered about dozens of times already...

I just really, really hope that Team17 does a decent job with WMD. I am not liking the idea of vehicles AT ALL. If they'd just listen to me and implement my ideas, I could guarantee the best Worms game of all time.

Worm select is fine as a utility, but not as a game setting (start of each turn.) imo.
I feel this way because for some dumb reason if I try to select a worm whom hasn't had a turn in a while. He completely freezes. Like WTF?

Armageddon on PC has a popular online interface.

The game LITERALLY won't stay open for me, so there's also that. It opens, shows the logos for who's responsible for the game, and then the game coses on its own.

Try disabling steam overlay.

Right click on your game in the library then click on properties. From there you'll see a box saying 'enable steam over lay while in game'. Uncheck that. It actually makes a large difference.
