How to change name from player

I have tried everything yet it keeps being player!anyone know how to fix this?

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\your account name\team fortress classic\valve and open that config file with notepad. Toward the bottom you will see:
name "Player" .
Just change the "Player" to your desired name and be sure to place it in between the quote marks.

bring the console down, usually the ~ key and type "the name u want"
frame yer name within the quotes
