my theory: after the mini-war between black mesa guards and the army. both are devastated, the army has no men and black mesa needs to rebuild, so they hire merceneries to attack/defend themselves. BM rebuilds while the army destroys it. the never ending war goes up to the point of when the combine invade, they do so, killing the last of the weakened army and awakening gordan freeman and leaving the black mesa leader to move somplace else.

You already said this in your review, infact, it's more than 75% of it, TFC takes place in the late 40's/early 50's due to Classic Engineer being 2 Engineer's father....

TFC looks more realistic so i like to imagine its another story. nothing in the 40s-50s would have never looked that technalogical and therefor joining hl to hl2

Not really, I think it suits the early Cold War style and you can say the technological ♥♥♥♥ for 2 as well....
