I personally love Rabbit and would play regardless.
The reason the mode is deactivated is because there is, or at least was, an unresolved bug in rabbit where for some reason you could end up against the rabbit AND against the other players as if it were a 1 v 1 v X
That said, I still doubt it would be played even if it worked because I don't think many players are venturing anywhere but CTF modes. It's a shame because Rabbit is actually lots of fun - you can test a working (modded) version out of it for yourself on APC's Rabbit server and others. Problem is, you won't find many players there.
Hi-Rez' rabbit version is a great disappointment for me as I've otherwise found their support for the game very good. Rabbit mode should never have been reopened, however, it makes no sense to enable a game mode that will only leave a sour taste in any unfortunate player's mouth instead of waiting until it is playable and releasing it with a genuine launch event.
