steam/launching errors

Every time I start up Tribes: Ascend it takes me to the log in screen but before i can log in a little box shows up that says, 'You must launch this game from steam'. So I open up steam and click on the game's tab and click play, it starts fine but the same thing happens, it takes me to the log in screen and the little box shows up that says, 'You must launch this game from steam'. I uninstall it, reinstall it, start it up again, the same thing. I've done everything in the book of trubleshooting and then some, I even took to the web and found no awnsers. To be honest, this is last resort. Please help!

The new launcher is bugged. Telling to launch from steam when you are launching it from steam is like trolling

New launcher is completely lost where is your TA installation, expects default directories, doesn't like TA-steam directory structure, has problems to connect to authentication service.

The fixes from smite thread didn't work from me (but it might work for some installations) - old launcher fix gets later updated to newer launcher again, and the other fix makes the new launcher crash. Total mess.

I installed the non-steam version and it works.
