Is one of the triangles on the teleporter in Arx white? If it is white it means this teleporter is activated and can be reached by another activated transporter.
Go back to Arx and look for yourself if one of the triangles have become white. If not try to activate it and see if you can use the teleporter network now.
I actually quit playing after I encountered this and couldn't find any fix for it. The troll cave was the only one I tried to open. I just assumed none of them were working for me. I'll go back and see if the level 1 and 2 portals open for me. Thanks for the info!
Just beat it yesterday with only 3 portals working. Well, one half worked. And I nearly cried when level 8 didn't activate properly. I kept reloading my quicksave and recasting to no avail. I did a LOT of walking especially cos I vendored almost every goody I came across. Except for lvl 8 excess gear. I left all that in the 2 chests cos I was full already. Never went back cos at that point I was too excited to see end-game.
Mega Movis, and plenty of mana potions, was seriously helpful!
Also, each new game may encounter different portal problems. My first time halfway thru (restarted cos I didn't like where I put my character points) I had different portals available.
Goodluck.
is this with Arx Libertatis or unpatched Arx Fatalis?
In either case, please you provide a save file.
Also, this is with Arx Libertatis. I couldn't play it without.
which Arx Fatalis / Arx Libertatis versions did you use for your playthroughs? It looks like this is an issue with times stored in the save files so all versions you used matter, not just the last one.
ditsycitykitty, are the two save files you sent me from the same playthrough? Do you remember roughly how long you played to get to that point? (Just trying to see which times in the save are bogus).
If anyone else can provide save files, that could be helpful as well. You can attach them to the bug report[bugs.arx-libertatis.org].
I used "arx-libertatis-1.2-dev-2016-05-25-windows" in Win10 for those 2 different playthroughs. The first had a normal hero and the second had a "special" hero. I think I played the normal hero, the first save, around 10-15 hours. Maybe? The second special hero I played maybe around 40 hours til that point.
I currently have "arx-libertatis-1.2-dev-2016-06-12-windows" installed and have encountered the same thing with my current playthrough.
Something to maybe note, it always seems to be different portal problems with each new hero. Completely random.
Also, I find that sometimes the portal problems become half-fixed towards end game. After you take back the city of Arx.
And I've been too lazy to play on my Linux to see if it also occurs. My Linux game is too jerky to be properly played, but maybe I'll try to fix that soon.
Yeah, I have no idea yet where things go wrong.
Yes, the portal doors aren't completely broken, it just takes ridiculously long before they open.
Thanks for testing. It's probably unlikely that this is OS-specific (at least once the timers are broken, the doors don't open under Linux either), but if you have time to test it would be appreciated.
I have added code to fix up the script timers so portals should now open when using existing saves made with previous AL 1.2 development snapshots - you do not need to re-cast the spell.
Many thanks to bsxf47 for tracking down what I think is the root cause for this issue.
The development snapshots now also have debug checks enabled, which may cause a slight performance decrease (which will not be there in release versions). If anyone is keen to do another playtrough, I'd be interested to know if any of the checks fail - they will appear like normal crashes and you can use the crash reporter tool to submit them.
Thanks to everyone for testing, reporting the issue and providing save files.
I didn't know where else to post this, but since you mentioned the crash reporter tool here I hope no one minds.
Anyway, I decided to do another play thru to check the portals and ran into a crash. I tried to submit a crash report with the crash report tool and it could not submit the report.
"Could not create a new issue on the bug tracker
Could not get issue URL"
I guess I'll go submit both problems manually, though I'm slow with these things. :/
