Judging by the ending (Still can't believe the game ended the way it is) , there will be a sequel to continue the story ?

I'm reading the reviews and I hear about things like game-breaking bugs, a recent update that made some "colonel" boss nearly impossible to beat, and various glitches on platforming that make it unnecessarily harder. But the look and feel of it seem spoton. It's currently discounted a lot, but I'm still hesitant on purchasing. Do they actively work on this still? Are these issues likely to be addressed?...
