Steam In-Home Streaming + Xbox 360 Controller?

I can use the gamepad when I'm playing locally, but when I play using in-home streaming, the controller isn't detected, and it defaults to keyboard + mouse. Anyone know how to get it to use the gamepad when in-home streaming?

I'm not sure why, but the controller is now recognized as something like Valve Streaming Controller. However, none of the buttons do what I expect them to do. Anyone still playing this?
