broken controll pannel, door won't open in junkyard

after recieving the password and getting into the junkyard there is a second gate and a button....i have seen youtube video's of people running against the button and attacking it and opening the gate.....I cannot no matter what i try....open this gate.

any help?

I have the same problem, all the youtube videos seem to be for console with people pressing "X" or "E" Advice please as I've spent longer on this level than all the others put together.

I'm playing PC version and none of the buttons or critters I've shot at it have any effect.
Up until now I thought what a brilliant game but rapidly losing interest.

Buttons are pressed with the same key that you open doors with.

Thanks for reply; had already tried that then I noticed I couldn't get into bounty store either when I retried the level. Found a few intermittent keys - new keyboard all sorted thanks.
