Gameplay - 10/10
This game made me feel as fast and powerful as the protagonist looks. His main weapon is the grappling hook that lets you move like spiderman, and the game takes this one mechanic and makes it feel like an arsenal of tools. Every boss fight genuinely feels unique, and the progression of unlockable abilities is actually very useful and makes you be and feel faster and more powerful.
Art and Animation - 10/10
Its some of the best pixel art I've ever seen and the best pixel art I've seen in a game. Just watch the trailer again-just look at the city billboard background spread at the start, look at how many different environments there are in the trailer and how they all feel like different environments, look at how realistic the falling down stairs part looks, just look at how fluid the combat looks and how monstrous those boss looking things are. That's what the whole game is like, its super impressive how natural the animation looks especially with how few pixels they have to work with on the characters.
Music and sound - 11/10
My ears exploded from peak. The music is absolutely incredible. Disclaimer: it is a different style and genre from the trailer music, but just as epic, and it harmonizes with the game setting perfectly. I will never find a single bad song in the soundtrack, and the boss themes are the best things ever. Every single momentous experience I had while playing this game hit ten times harder because of the absolute fire that was playing (ahem, great escape).
But the thing that elevated this to my goty was
Story - 12/10
I can't even explain how impeccably crafted, how flawlessly executed, and how emotionally charged the narrative is. It's peak storytelling. There are a lot of cutscenes and I sincerely think all of them are worth the time. Play this game blind if you can, it is so incredible. The story alone makes this game worth playing.

Literally the best game I've played. It made me cry, can't wait for DLC.
