DoW2 just won't start (Windows 8)

So i just installed the game and tried to play. however, nothing happens. all i get is the key-numbers that i'm supposed ti write down and when i try to continue to game the first time installation window pops up and closes in about one second. Nothing happens after that. Could someone please give me some tips on how to fix this?

Having same problem with this game and Chaos Rising. Only Retribution will play. Downloaded everything as a bundle.

I have this same problem, and I'm getting nothing but endless "Installation failed" errors, and the support page apparently no longer exists.

It would seem that the problem is that it need Games for Windows Live to run.
However, Games for Windows Live is no more.

So as it stand now it would seem we are screwed and the game is unplayable. I dont know if this will be fixed.

*Edit* Ok, i was wrong. Go to Microsoft.com and search for Games for Windows there. You should find a link to a download that will make it work.

That download link, as I stated before, does not actually work. Even when run as an Administrator, it gets endless "failure to connect" errors, and the support pagedoes not exist anymore.

Dunno what to say, it worked for me. It might have something to do with my region, i do not know. Here is the link i used

It is in Norwegian, the download link is all the way at the bottom. Right next to the Facebook / Twitter / Who knows buttons.
It might work but i cant say for sure.
