Silent Hunter 4 - Steam or Disk?

I'm interested in buying SH4, but after looking on some of the reviews, I hear that it has a lot of glitches and problems with the Steam version. Should I buy SH4 on PC DVD or just wing it on the winter sale and buy it on Steam for £5?

This game does look like a lot of fun, so I want to get the most out of this game.

I bought it back when I had my old PC (WXP) then got new PC (W7) and have had no problems with the base game. Did have to do some reading on subsim.com and change a few things so I could run a good mod set. I have read about people having problems, mostly getting it to startup. I think this is mostly a case of those who have problems coming here and those who do not staying silent. Also, to get the most out of the game, you will want to mod it to fit your playstyle. As most mods require the U-boat missions DLC, you should figure that into the cost before you choose to buy or not.
