The HD edition was never released for PC, so there is no HD PC edition for steam to put out.
I guess I should rephrase the question.

Why was the HD edition never released for PC?
HD edition is console only :(
we don't know why, maybe they didn't want to spend the time and money to do it.

Because Ubisoft considers PC one of the most important platforms and does everything to make sure PC gamers are happy with content and products they are receiving. (c)

No, it's not. The game stretches to widescreen but it's not true HD. I actually use a mod to remove the stretch just because it looks wierd. Also, the HD edition has better textures and HDR effects.
Can't see the difference.
There are some little differences between the PC version and the console HD version.
But you barely notice them.
Little changes of the models and I think textures too.

It still looks very pretty to me as it is.

But if you have Windows 7 the Steam version sucks.

Actulally get the GOG version... that version works better on newer systems, and support will actulally help you.

That is actually the standard quality for the PC version. My disc copy had the same quality.

The graphics were better on PC back when this was first released (I think, but don't quote me on that) however the HD edition has higher quality models, with Jade for example being in better quality than the PC edition's version.

Ultimately, the changes are not that noticeable, though, since the art style of the game does not gain, nor suffer, that much from graphics quality. It looks good to this day, no matter if you're running the HD edition or not.
I wish they would make the HD edition. :Horse:
surprise! the is the HD version
