Get rid of flickering without performance penalties on Nvidia gpu
"If you have an Nvidia card, go to Nvidia Control Panel and change "Maximum prerendered frames" to 1 for BGE.exe. This should remove flickering without performance penalties."

Ps.: Also you can enable "Manual compatibility settings" and tick every checkbox on the list no matter if the source says left it as default. Besides, keep Anti-aliasing slider "On", it won't harm.

...and here you can find a lot of various fixes for BGE on this source;

Totally agree with everything, except this bit. Full set AA _will_ break the game. Tested. :)

Interesting. I don't know why and how but it worked for me. I have uplay version of the game maybe because of that. I saw that gog version have some alt+tab related crashing issue for some reason. Actually I have alt+tab issue as well. Gui texts disappearing after alt+tab'. I'm already using widescreen fix and it should fix that issue as well even without noticing.

Maybe this AA thing is not universal and triggers for some resolutions or in combination with some default video driver settings? Well, anyway, I can say that _for me_ it even prevent wide-screen fix to work (it always was in window and 640x480 before I disabled AA. :) So I asked idarion and he confirmed that indeed, AA and no-AA gives different output. So it was. :)
