Hi there,

Working on this project was super informative and i learned alot, above others that i probably bit a bit more than i can chew ;P .

So the final patch will drop this month and i will switch the game to free(request to do so just submitted and should be thru soon) for all to try and play if you like.

thx for your time and suggestions and i hope to one day make a game thats more fun, more refined and more performant with more knowledge under my belt.

1.0 Release

Hey there,
a couple of days ago i released the 1.0 update of Portal Defect.
While 1.0 in name there is still work to be done and things to improve.

most updates in 1.0 are related to mechanics, AI and level design.

Also i adjusted the price of the game as i found the previous price point a bit much in retrospective for the first serious game i developed and i found it now to reflect the game better as a snack for in between :P and for what it was intended.

As a Solo and first time dev there are a few challenges that i will try to address soon with the help of some more experienced devs who just offered there help,
most notably:

-Performance: while the game works fine for the most part and have been improved in that regard by me already there are still here and there some framerate drops that i so far cant seem to find the reason for.
Hopefully will be fixed with the next patch to improve a smooth playing experience.

-Size: while there are many objects and environments in the game 20 gb is still a tiny bit much and i hope to reduce the size of the final game by a bit.

-While the game is and was always intended as a game without much story and mostly as a quick play for in between i will still try to add somewhat of a storyline in future updates to at least round out the experience a bit.

Its a project i love working on and started during times of corona, it has its kinks and flaws but i try to address them one at a time, so every feedback is welcome may it be negative or positive.
(rest assured i read them all and while i might not be able to respond to them all there are all collected and considered)

Just a quick announcement for everyone.

I collected a lot of feedback etc etc and been working on fixing them and improving on gameplay in general.
I feel confident that i have greatly improved it over the last few weeks and can now announce that the patch + a new environment and lvl design will be released end of march or first half of April :)

20GB? No. Also, some random feedback.

20GB is, frankly, ridiculously high for this game. Hades takes 10GB and I'm not going to keep it installed much longer because its play isn't worth the chunk of space it takes up. I used Compactor on your game and that saved over 50%. 50%! That means you are just wasting 10GB of your customer's storage space by not bothering to store your data efficiently. That is not ok. Other random feedback before I refund this because it just is not ready to be on the market: Dead skeleton shields ...

Permanent Progression?

Most roguelites have permanent progression, e.g. unlocking new items, characters, areas. Does this game have any of that?

The control scheme is not good for a PC game.

I know that the game is best play with a controller but I don't want to use a controller to play games on my computer. Cannot give you more feedback because I stop playing the game at the beginning of the game,right after the first enemy encounter.
