Could anyone run me down on what is and what is not included in UT2004 Steam's Editor's Choice Edition?

After a decade of playing on an off with pirate copies I mended myself by buying Steam's version. I have actively tried to find a description of what is in the copy respecting mappacks and versioning but neither the forums or beyond unreal seem to list it.

Are there any must have tools I have to be aware of to be able to play with other kids this days or singleplayer some mods?

Just outdated versions of mods (Rocketeer, Alien Swarm, Frag Ops, Red Orchestra, Jailbreak, Domain 2049, Deathball, Unwheel, Clone Bandits, Chaos UT2, and Air Buccaneers) and additional software like MayaPLE, Karma Author Tools and uPaint. Be aware you don't need these old versions to join (the very few) servers still running these mods. Some of these have even graduated to new standalone games (Red Orchestra, Alien Swarm, Air Buccaneers)


The UT2004 steam installs is enough to start playing immediately.

You mean old versions are included, or just that they won't work with this? I own most of those standalones anyway :P

UT2004 ECE shipped with 3 additional "mod" CDs that were not required for installation, but provided as a complimentary (*cough*DIALUP*cough*). Those were the mods on them and they're all versions from 2004. Most had been updated since (especially Chaos UT2)

What about bonus and map packs? Community ones included or just the official Mega Pack?

Only Mega Pack is included with UT2004 ECE. This is in the Steam version because it was also a required patch. Also the Steam version includes ONS-Ascendancy and ONS-Aridoom

It doesn't hurt to download the Community Bonus Packs though
