When offered the block pushing buttons, using the grip etc. does nothing? I'm on Valve Index

Would love good, old classic snap turn instead of rotating the world around me. Tried playing seated but it's not possible to move so I couldn't reach the desk in the bedroom. Would love to be able to 'walk' around, or even teleport.
