GRID

GRID

Grid has the WORST HANDLING i've ever seen.
i dare you all to say me that i'm the problem.
in a short list way, i've played, tryied or finished

-need for speed series, from porsche 2000 and Underground to Prostreet on PC and Ps2,

-ridge racer 2, 3 and the Psp version

-Gran turismo 2, 3, 4 and 5 (and the ♥♥♥♥ty PSP version)

-Forza 3, well a great to superb game if you want to personnalise ur car and race it, lots less frustrating than GT, but less interresting for a playstation fan lol.

-the almighty Street legal redline, aka the crash simulator

-test drive unlimited, really lovely unless you're into safari driving :3

-rig over the road racing (lol)

-i've been a regular Track Mania driver from 2007 to 2012.

-GTA series have no secret for me (exept GTA/GTA2/GTA london)

-TOCA race driver and Race 07, both very serious sim racing games, with great parameter grids

-Drift City, the MMO who lost my account three times (each time it changed of owner), with a total of 130 lost levels but also the best arcade based open world racer i've been in

...
i can name only two games who had Worse handling than GRID so far: the base SLRR (with Mister SiR mods, it handles BETTER) and ROTRR.

i've found a nickname for this game: the donut simulator.
push up button and the car will do perfect circles.

remove driving assist? slightly better, but still cant turn. remembers me the Dirt thing, where a punto with 200hp could do 0-100 in 2.2sec. Oh dude! it's the same game engine!

wow. so i've really seen the ♥♥♥♥ hit the fan.

as a keyboard/playstation driver and a young real world driver, i've NEVER EVER been insulted by something's handling like that. even that lawn mower on flat plastic wheels was more sticky on (wet) grass.

but well, i'm not gonna die, it was well 3 euros worth, for it's graphics. nice from far, but far from nice.

you play racing games with a keyboard? I think GRID has one of the best handlings. Every car is different. You can really feel the weight of the car and I really enjoy this game. It's propably my favorite racing game (and I played alot). I think you are just doing something wrong, besides playing with a keyboard. Do you use the handbreak? I play with a controller and have all driving-assistants off.
well, i'm not gonna spend 40 euros to get an xbox controller. not for this game. and hand-braking is not gonna change the traction joke/over speed problem that is serously ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game up.
it's way too fast, way too sensible and way too loose at the same time.
i push up, the car starts twisting, without finding upper gear...wel i'm gonna try it in manual. now.
not any better :/
Well, racing games are not really made to be played by Keyboard and you can get one for around 25euro (price will probably drop with the XboxOne release). Well, anyway everyone has his own opinion, I am really enjoying this game and I'm sorry that you don't.
Btw you said you own a playstation, you can use the controller for pc aswell.

I found that if you go to start -> options -> advanced mid race you can change the steering, breaking, and accelerator dead zone, meaning you can control how sensitive or non-responsive the controls are depending on what controller your using. The defaults seem to work well if you have a wheel, but I needed to increase the deadzone nearly all the way to 100% myself since I use a PS3 controller analog stick.
Play with the deadzones, took me a little while to configure the game to handle well with Traction control off, but now it's perfect. There's nothing wrong with the game, it's the setup. Cause you have keyboard, you're either 100% gas o 0% gas, 100% brake or 0% brake... You catch my "drift" (HA)
well i love this game so much acording to me handling are awsome... dont know what you talking about the game just missing a clutch button! and yep playing with keyboard not really smart move.

Using a keyboard for certain racing games is already a mistake for sure, let alone this game. I would use a controller or better yet a wheel, but if you're on a budget or somthing then buy a controller.

it's been quite awhile since I played grid, or "gris" as you call it....right now I'm just starting gris 2- but the point I want to make is you need to use the audio to hear how your tires are grabbing. I usually drive without any audio at all, just my own music, but I was all over the road with gris 2- then I turned on the audio and listened and found that was an important element I needed in the game. I seem to recall gris had a bit of an icy handling factor- but I did manage to adapt and play through the whole thing once.
if you got a high end car in real and have the trottle wide open the handling will be icy to. Just press the trigger 25% and up wihtout making tire scream like laszlozoltan said or feel controller vibrate.

Take their advice about dead zones, and driving aids off. I bought this game three years ago and gave up on it after messing with sensitivities and couldnt get it right, either. I had the same problem as you.. Too sensitive AND not sensitive enough in certain parts of the track, but after reading this post, I set my deadzones up around 40% and saturation around 45-50 and it works great. (this is using a keyboard, btw) I do have a wheel i can blow dust off and try that, but just letting you know keyboards works great. cant wait to see if wheel will be better now.
the only dead zone i use is a bit on the brake; zero on the steering- I HATE SLOPPY STREERING !!! I drive a truck in real life, once I had to take a rig that was a bit sloppy through montreal, geeze, let me tell you, you don't want sloppy steering ever
I found it pretty hard to be honest too. I think the handling differs wildly on a car to car basis. The slower cars weirdly have worse handling (and I am talking about handling at low speeds). Then as you progress the cars handle better.

I'm playing on a keyboard. Started with all assists off but after a while turned all on due to frustration. I reckon you play the Rookie tier on all 3 continents in Normal + Assists mode. Then as you progress to the second tier you can slowly increase the difficulty and turn assists off. This is so that you can get a feel of the cars and more importantly get to know the tracks. Getting to know the tracks makes a HUGE difference.
If you can't drive in Grid just give it to someone. I love this game and i would be thankful :P
I agree. I'm not even gonna bother listing the racing games I've playedm, but I've played pretty much everything you can name, in all sub-genres of racing games from arcade to sim. And the handling is HORRIBLE in this game. I tried messing around with the deadzones and stuff (I play on an Xbox 360 controller) and still no luck. The interior view is pathetic - not only because of the bland animations but also because you can't see anything other than the steering wheel. It understeers like nothing I've come across before. There's just no weiht to the handling at all.
