Joining Multiplayer with Mac and learning

Hi
I am on Mac and new to multiplayer
And i just got RO Ostfront 41 45 yesterday, but i don't know how to join Mulyiplayer.
Under [internet] options I see the listings of the different servers with the lowest ping starting at the top of the listings.
Is it the same for PC windows?
Do i join one?
I tried to join- but it started loading all the different compotents it would eg- it would load vehicles with really big data1000ok? downloads and when it gets to 100% it would than start loading more items i think for the game!
??Is this the process in loading the MP game??
And does all the loading just came off my storage in my Mac?
And when it is finished loading will the server be saved for me? So i don't have to say resave? Because that would be a real drag!
Is Multiplayer the only way to gain Achievement points?
I hope sameone can help me i really like this game for what i have been playing in practise mode it's really addictive. I like the sniper ^.^
If i cou;d get same answers that would be great...

Yes, the servers are the same on all platforms.
Bear with it downloading all the mods, custom maps and stuff like that. You won’t have to redownload all the stuff when you join the server again (except maybe a file or two for a different custom map that might be on at that moment).

Savv will i be able to play on all the Servers?
It is beacuse i have a Mac and i know beside RO 41-45 is the only one that accepts All the other versions are just PC.

Consider if most of server are on linux-based hosting and people can play with Windows and Linux version, a Mac client should be ok.

I've played both Red Orchestra Ostfront and the Darkest Hour mod on a mac without any troubles.
