How does the local co-op work?

I'm planning on picking this up but I just want to clairify how the local co-op works if anyone knows. I would assume one person uses the controller and the other the keyboard. Thanks for the feedback!

Local co-op works that one person can use keyboard and three use gamepads, or all four use gamepads

Alternatively you can use a mod to have multiple players on the keyboard, the link to that mod is stickied in this forum!

How do you begin a co-op match? whenever I start the game up with my keyboard then plug a controller in for player 2 it just makes player one controller based.

The keyboard is by default set to playing 1. If you go to Options>Settings, you can change what player the Keyboard is assigned to. Depending on how many controllers you have, you'll want to assign the keyboard to an unused player slot.

Controllers take up player slots in the order they are added, so, 1 player, 2 players, etc
