Races with Vehicles

I loved the original Death Rally which was around in 2005 (I am guessing) but in this new re-vamped version I noticed that if you have the fastest car or supposed best car in the game that even the crappier cars can keep up with you? I am like WTF? In a few races I had the Bravester and went in the beginner or easy racer and at some stages even the vagabond or dervishes were keeping up with me and I had all the upgrades on speed and armor and weapons and handling? Anyone else notice this bad idea? Surely the Bravestar or Deliverator should be tearing away from the vagabonds or dervshes but in this games even as the deliverator I had th crappy cars keeping pace with me and side by side until I either Nitro'd away or blasted them with ammo? Anyone Else know what I mean and see this awful idea?

Just to say it plainly: yes the AI cheats from a certain difficulty level on.

Extreme and hardcore races are difficult to win because of that, yet not impossible. I can see why the devs did it, but I agree the amount of bonus the AI gets is too high.

yes this bothered me so much. I had the best car in the game being the Bravestar and I had a vagabond, the crappiest in the game, no boosting, side by side with me and keeping up with me? I am like WTF? and I had so much trouble taking on the adversary? It took me upto 10 races to win? He had this unfair cheating fast car that tore away from me and the only eay I could keep up was by collecting all nitro on the track and blasting . I won by 2-4 seconds. Talk about cheating going on? IT was almost impossible to beat the adversary

well a lot things is not quite good in a new version.
Like missing table with points, that ladder thing was really challenging
NPCs dont have personalities like before. Some were agressive, some were pasive
catch up thing is pure crap

and yeah, is a loot.

such a shame, they should made exact copy 1:1, with difficulty and same game mechanics

yeah there is no ladder this time and no points and you collect car parts around a track to level up your ride? what was with that? The adversary was too hard to try and beat, took me 10 attempts to get it right

I agree that old 90s game was fantastic and I regret not playing enough in the day. :(

the 90s version seems more realistic with the ladder and the points system? The new version has no ladder, noi points and no buying upgrades. You collect car parts around the track as u race to level up. Also the final boss is too hard to beat? he speeds all the way and u cant keep up even with the best ride. The crappy vagabonds even keep up with the best car in the game and hard to take down :(

on the original game if you chose the hardest diffilculty level the computer cheats then as well, but I Agree the orginal game is better and at least on that game I guess the choise was there to not play on the level where the computer cheats.

even easy skill level im sure the computer cheats? The vagabone was able to keep up with the deliverator and bravestar sheesh

Sigh... To try 10 times, think of the eternity! Almost impossible!

BTW, I won the 3rd time and I think the Adversary was far too EASY in fact :D Haven't tried to destroy him yet though...

Just my opinion but I kinda like the "cheating" AI because EVERY race you win feels really awesome. You hang on to the leaders butt and take the inner line in the last curve to bump him in the side and win by an inch! I get awesome feeling from that.

Yeah the AI could be way better and the game could be more balanced in many ways... But this game isn't perfect but it is really fun and challenging (though I understand that some people think it is the "wrong kind of" or "in a cheap way" challenging. Nevertheless you have to play your cards right from the start to be able to win.

Great game, buy it if on sale!

the original death rally was released in the 1990's, but aside of that, the different difficulties are more about the bots driving better, not faster. If you fully upgrade every car, most of them can keep up with one another.
