Launch Error JVM .\jre

Any help getting this to run is appreciated. I get the following error and the game will not even launch.

The JVM found at .\jre is damaged.
Please reinstall or define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME
to point to an installed 32-bit JDK or JRE.

I have uninstalled Java and downloaded the latest Java software (Version 8 Update 45) on Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have completely uninstalled TtR 3 times and downloaded & installed fresh through Steam.

After trying on Steam I downloaded the DRM free version for Windows and it installs and plays properly. Does anyone have a fix to allow this to work with my Steam account?
