this game is hard? Really?
i can not for the life of me see how people are having problems with this game. if anything the 4th party member part is when the game for me got really easy. i build all my stuff to ignore the combo completely and my damage was utterly op. Dem one shots most stuff if built like that. this game is perfect for those who want a power trip all the way threw.

Same here. Although I love the style and can't complain much for the price tag I feel the game is easy even in the hardest mode. Increased difficulty only makes you go back to town a bit more often, that's all. If you like to grind like me you'll be OP as soon as you go out to the world map for the first time and can't possibly lose once you get Lita. I do use combo + deathblow for bosses though.
For me, the game does seem 'difficult' for an oldschool JRPG (in Hard Mode, at least) given that it's designed around your HP refilling after every fight, so things start hitting like a truck early and often, more like a freight train later in the game. However, given its short length and how easy it is to quickly grind, especially if you focus on Strength, Agility and +HIT with all your characters (and grab Joy2Key and set a button to press 'Enter' a few dozen times per second, so you can grind insanely quickly) it's easy to just overlevel for any given area to the point at which nothing's a challenge. But that's kinda how old JRPGs tend to be, anyway, with fairly minimal real strategy.

Also -- Teamwork then Blade Dance, Holy Strike or, rarely, Protect or Potions with Dem; healing or attacking physically for +4 Combo (which affects healing too) with Sara; Covering Fire with Lita and Erik. Whoops, everything's dead.
i never grinded in it though. i only had trouble with the secret boss that i have dub Demon Duck dragon. but even then without using the combo at all i killed him in like 4-6 turns. i forget his name but the zombie prince with double damage and built for more damage and not combo with smash did like 6K damage. even then Dem and Lita built the same was outputting like 6K+ with deathblows again build for all de damage and no combo.
The game's not terribly hard, but because it's balanced on HP refilling after battles random encounters are much harder than one would expect from a JRPG. Really though unless your playing on hard the game is pretty easy.
I thought it was hard, but I of course did start on a harder difficulty, so, that's a thing.
It goes for the throat on Hard, but for the most part it's not that bad otherwise. Just don't gimp yourself by splitting your offensive stats and trying to make hybrid characters that can't kill anything fast enough.
Its a game heavily based on staying in one style, quick and deadly > versatility

I guess I suck? But I did beat Dragon Quest IX, Epic Battle Fantasy 3, OFF, Mother 1 and EarthBound on varying difficulty levels, and while none of those (except maybe Mother 1) are too hard games, it shows that I know how to play turn-based RPGs and shouldn't be having this level of problem.
