The 4th Chapter: Dull as ♥♥♥♥

So I saw the sequel go on early access so I decided to play this through cause I'd never actually made it to the zombie part of the game, and well....

Everywhere I read about it people were like "you arent ready for it" "the game gets more about strategy". And Unless Im missing something its really not interesting. Leveling up the bases is pretty bare bones, you dont really have any controll over your so called 'fleet'. And all you do is go from place to place killing zombies over and over.

Its not hard like the early game was, where I could chose to not fight my way from place to place to try and get a tech advantage so I could get stronger. Its not hard like the midgame where I spent a while just hunting huge ships with smaller ones in the hope of someday having one. And while the zombies added a nice element to the battles, they arent really threatening enough to stand on their own.

So now I have all the tech I want, tons of research levels, and basically free resources. And all I can use that against are zombies. So basically the same fight, over and over. Please tell me Im missing something, because Im just not invested in the game anymore. Which is sad.

I honestly came back to the game for the same reason you did. I quit for along due, due to the early game being frustrating. Everyone always seems to out tech you, you lose ships like crazy, and end up having to retreat a system or two to grind out progress. Some missions just seemed to suck to. Almost like you were set up to fail.

I've come back to try again since I just beat Rebel Galaxy, and I'm still hungering for some space action.

So I don't know, I never made it to the zombies. Thinking about playing on a smaller map so I can clear stuff faster. Even though the game says it doesn't recommend it. But, I'll def give you my opinion when I reach them.

As for the 2nd game. SPAZ 2. I heard it's not like this one at all. Like there's some kinda weird RTS element to it. And you spend most of your time controlling your mothership, instead of switching between ships and such.

ReformistTM on youtube has a decent number of videos and a playlist setup for the game. So might be worth checking that out, before you drop your money.

I never made it to the zombies either. I really like the game, but ... all the same reasons.
