Windows 10 and Fable works flawless

Hi peoples :)

I installed win10 and it works, I used win7 before and as you know, fable3 works with win7 good but not with win8 or 8.1.

So I installed yesterday GFWL from Microsoft Homepage and then downloaded Fable 3 from Steam, I activated my Steam key (never did before because I owen it on Retail, so I always used this Key). Activation with my new Key worked nice.

i started the game and all is good, GWFL runs, DLC`s works and the free DLC`s I downloaded from Microsoft GFWL Marktplace.

Game works and I can play it without any issues.

So if you like to play Fable 3 on Win10 do it and if you are using Win8 upgrade it, because Fable and a lot of programms runs much better now then on Win8 and Win7.

I don't get it. My account has been locked out for ages. I can't play this game anymore. Even password recovery (Yeah I was running out of options) just brings me to an empty website.

try to reset the passwort on hotmail.com use there your gfwl login details and click "forget password" that should work

That's great news! I really hope they will re-release Fable 3 on Windows 10 (or steam ofc. I don't care! Just re-release it!) so I can force my friends to buy it :P

For those with issues using Win8, Win8.1, and Win10
Download this, extract the xlive.dll file, and place it in main Fable III directory...

This will disable the Windows Live nonsense so that you can play the main offline single-player game. You won't have any of your paid-for-DLC but the main game is very playable. Been playing it maxed out and using an Xbox360/PC gamepad. Very nice experience since the last time I played it because back then I couldn't play it maxed out and now I can and the graphics are really good.

Hope this helps someone having issues. I know I wasn't able to get past the GFWL nonsense without this and sometimes I had a black screen with a yellow cursor. This brought the game right up. It starts off at a lower resolution so go into settings at the place where you choose your male/female hero and adjust your game settings to your liking.

I'm using Windows 10 Pro but this should work for Windows 8 and 8.1 just the same.

you have to install gfwl from microsoft not the one from steam, that will not work. just google gfwl then you will finde the download link on MS Site

I did that too and that didn't work for me. My solution above worked for me. But you may have to install GFWL from the xbox site first. What I recommend is that you uninstall GFWL from control panel/uninstall programs/GFWL. Then reboot, then install the GFWL from the MS xbox site and then apply the GWFL disabler that I linked to in the main Fable III directory. Because that's how I did it and it brought the game right up. I was having the issue of GWFL not able to find my username/password citing a network connection issue and I was also having the problem of black screen with yellow diamond cursor. The solution I provided is the onlt way I was able to get the game to work.

I was getting the black screen with gold cursor, but then I did as others here suggested and I can confirm Fable 3 working for me on Windows 10 Pro x64.

First use Add or Remove Programs to remove any form of GFWL that installs with Fable 3. Then install the version that you download from here:

Launch GFWL and sign in. Then launch the game and sign in as needed.

The game told me I needed to download an update to LIVE, which I did and then restarted the game (and GFWL) and the game works just fine without the xlive.dll posted by ThoRn

Yeah, its important that users install the GFWL from microsoft and not the one from the Game, the best way is to install GFWL before downloading it from steam, it worked without issues for me and I also run Win 10 Pro 64bit

Go into Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, and uninstall Microsoft Games for Windows - Live. Restart your PC and then download and install the GFWL client from this link...

If Fable 3 starts up with a black screen and gold cursor, or if you can't connect to the gwfl live, then you can try my solution above in my first post to this thread.

thing is even when i uninstall games for windows live after having fable 3 installed i still have that issue.

i dont have any version of games for windows live installed
