Activating Sockets

I am at the part where you have to get the data Nigel had on to the data crystal. All the walkthroughs say to ativate the sockets and make the shelves open, but everytme I click them she just says "Nothing's Happning". It's really pissing me off. Help anyone?

Did you find the second crystal so you could activate the terminal (near the shelves)?
use the soap on the water where the crystal laid before it fell down

Did you pick up the single lamp?
1. You can use it in different spots on the same floor to search for the right shelve and shelveplace
2. using the terminal you can get to a point where it tells you the lamps for the corresponding crystal are activated
