The twist in itself was good, since during the story pre-twist I thought "You have the right kind of intentions in telling a story about the environment, but that kind of change resulting from this kind of disaster? And brought upon humanity by one man alone? Guys, that stuff happens because of ALL of us." So, the twist made the cause of the changes more logical. But yeah, not the reasoning of the Fay.
Also, just played "Deponia", another Daedalic game, which has similar logical flaws at the ending. Maybe that is one of the points where they could still improve in their storytelling. Their characters are likeable and the riddles mostly the right kind of hard after all.
As said above - to make Bent think it's much closer. In the beginning Bent also doubts her story and she says something like 'Or it maybe was 2500. I don't know, we count years differently". So she was too not very comfortable with lies and nervous.
>Why would Dalvin lie to Bent about it on the helicopter?
Delvin didn't lie - he actually was in 2500 at the moment and showed Bent true images. Delvin didn't know about all these lies, neither did he knew that Bent was informed of "slightly" different plan.
>If it was all a ruse, why did Sadi shock Fay about the Algae not being real?
Because algae wasn't real in the beginning, I guess. Fay made that up because she was really hoping that with the help of Bent she can make that real and lied to him to inspire. Apparently she told Sadi about this plan, since they were friends.
>Why would Fay even have Bent go to the plant if that was the case?
Again - because Fay didn't agree with the plan and wanted some better solution. It's clear that she rebelled against Salvador in the end, so that's why she took Bent - really to stop this.
>Wouldn't it be easier to just get the authorities to stop Salvador?
Fay was on the crossroads. She was part of the death squad, but wanted to believe that another solution is possible. It's not that she took either side till the end.
Tape about explosion was a lie. It never existed and was part of Fay's story (well, she had enough trouble convincing Bent to help her even without mentioning that she's part of terrorist bomb squad from the future x).
And Salvador just does what he does. That's the reason Fay told lies about being in 2050 instead of 2500 - people need a feeling of *close* catastrophe to act, not in some really distant future. So they decided to make one =)
Algae power supply was never real in future. Fay made that up because she really wanted to believe that blowing up power plant could be avoided. And in reality there were no "svenssons"-generators and stuff. What we saw and operated in-game - was part of that false story. But Fay thought that if she'll make Bent believe in this technology - then the future will change. That's why she was shocked - with Sadi she was checking whether or not the future really changed because of her actions.
