Questions about Cody's criminal upper
I've noticed that some characters seem to be able to jump through Cody's criminal upper .
I always thought that the upper created a straight wall of "projectile" in form of a tornado (I guess a stationary wall version of Guile's sonic boom), but am I wrong? For example, T.Hawk seemed to be able to dive through the tornado. On the other hand Dhalism was completely blocked by it.

Also, I seem to recall seeing people online using the upperct to block projectile attacks, Haven't been able to recreate that (well, I've been trying Cody out for only 30 min), so I'm wondering if I'm remembering wrong or if my timing needs to be worked on. Yes, I realize it's not the best (probably one of the worse) option for dealing with fireballs.

Heya. This may help: http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Ultra_Street_Fighter_IV/Cody

Also:

"EX Criminal Upper: On block, the distance the opponent is pushed back is reduced by half; now Strike and Projectile Invincible until 1 frame before active. Throw invincibility 1-9F removed."

"EX Criminal Upper: Strike invincibility increased from 1-6F to 1-7F."

". Just be careful as it's very punishable and completely vulnerable to throws as of ultra. The tornado is actually considered a projectile by the game, so you can use it to negate other projectiles, including EX fireballs (which usually can't be negated without using meter) and even Dhalsim's Ultra 1; albiet you have to be really good at reaction, and the projectile moves forward after each hit."

Best I can offer for this character since I've never played Cody.

All I know is that depending on timing I can jump over it with Balrog. (need to be in air already)

Cody's C.U is a good damaging ender, however not a great anti air. The hitbox of the tornado is not as big as the tornado make you believe. Especially upwards it's not that high. When people neutral jump right in front of Cody they can hit him before even getting hit by the C.U since it doesn't have that much i-frames and the hurt box of Cody moving up/forward due to his arm motion. The "projectile" disappears the instant Cody gets hit. So obviously a good jump in beats the C.U due to above mentioned reasons.

Even though not a good AA you can trade the C.U into Ultra 1 but again it's risky getting beaten clean by the incoming attack so not really worth it.

To absorb a projectile with the C.U you need to have the tornado collide with the projectile which means you have to do the C.U way earlier before the opponents projectile actually hits you.

Don't go for it as it leaves you slightly disadvantaged. Characters like Sagat won't let you get out a second C.U in time to block his second projectile. It can be kind of useful to build meter with it. If your opponent does sleep for a second go for the medium C.U and it should build a good amount of meter.
