Scientific notation?

I can't manage to understand this "octoquadgendezillion" thing. English uses a really weird way of naming big numbers.
Is there any way to change it so that I can have the numbers in scientific notation, where a billion is 10^9, a quadrillion is 10^15, and so on...? Could the developers put this into the game?

the problem isn't so much that the Lattin form is hard to understand it is more that with the option to switch to scientific notation, it would make it would make recognizing the size of a number at a glance easier. 32.8e12 > 41.9e9
ideally, the option would just replace the Lattin with its corresponding e
like Million = E6, Billion = E9, Trillion = E12 and so on

All these people are nearly 10 years older and probably don't play the game any more.
