What is this contest about?
The UESC wants to grow in numbers, so to achieve this goal and also to provide amusement and joy for the Space Engineers community as a whole, we decided to host a competition on a monthly basis with phenomenal prizes.
Every month, with every new contest, there will be a new topic, defining the type of your creation. If you were able to build anything your imagination can offer, then the judges would have a really tough time!
This contests topic:
Dual Cockpit Fighter
What are the prizes I can win?
The UESC is able to offer phenomenal prizes in the form of video games, or, in exceptional cases, honorary positions or actions. These video games, which are the main prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, will be sent to the winners in the form Steam keys or download links.
All the games will come from HumbleBundle[www.humblebundle.com], which means that the winners will get their free games, the money goes to charity and everyone is happy ever after!
This contests prizes:
- 1st Place: TBD
- 2nd Place: TBD
- 3rd Place: TBD
Construction Requirements
This month we started experimenting with dual cockpit fighters. With two cockpits you can take your buddies along as gunner, navigator or just for motivational support! We are very interested in the designs you come up with!Important Aspects:
- Has to be a small ship
- Has to have 2 cockpits
- Has to be armed
How will I be rated?
You will be rated on a average of 6 different aspects, for this contest those are: Aesthetics, Features, Storage, Speed and Weaponry. Each of those aspects is equally important. Bear in mind that 2 cargo containers during a fighter contest could get you a 9, but during a freighter contest that might result in a 2 for storage. Overkill can deminish your points, this way you will have to make different design choices. It also gives players who are not so good in aesthetics a chance. For all the information check this spreadsheet[docs.google.com].
Can I use mods?
Yes! But we have a list of mods you are allowed to use, any mod that is not on this list will get you disqualified. Check the allowed mods in this spreadsheet[docs.google.com]How can I enter the contest?
Everyone can enter the contest, you do not need to be nor become a member of the UESC, even though new members are highly appreciated and always welcome. Simply post your creation as a workshop object in the comment section with the following submission form:

Short Description:
(Insert Workshop Object Link Here)
Please note that we only accept one submission per player
Info:
You can post a workshop object simply by uploading the world your ship is in to the workshop. Then all you have to do is insert the link in your submission.
Best of luck and let your imagination run free!

I also had a mod request. Small ship gattling turrets AI/no AI from (Keen example mod)

and the Azimuth mega mod pack?

I'm just wondering: How strict is your definition of a "fighter"? Does it just mean "any armed small-ship" (which would include gunships, bombers and more) or does the "figher" have to fullfill a more strictly defined purpose?
if the latter i vote for these:

I wouldn't normally pitch for the inclusion of a mod after the contest start, but I agree on this mod. (the turrets)
Feels like a dual cockpit fighter wants a turret to help occupy the copilot.
Also: I like the theme. Should hopefully get a lot of entrants and produce some very interesting designs.
Glad you guys like the topic ;)
@pilzkowsky
If it meets the requirements than it's fine.
EDIT: With 'Armed' I mean armed with weaponry that can be fired from the ship itself. (So no drones, bombs, torps)

So to be clear on the weaponry front; there's nothing stopping us from utilizing drones, bombs & torps, but the fighter has to be conventionally armed as well?
Just need to clarify, as a couple of guided torps would be a great thing for the copilot to handle I think.
Short Description:
The Longbow twin-cockpit bomber, capable of carrying four remote-guided anti-capital ship missiles. The bomber possesses only light armor, making it vulnerable to enemy interceptor fighters. Either or both pilots can remotely operate the warheads, but by having a dual cockpit set-up this means the bomber need not be stationary while deploying the missiles.

If we make torpedos/guided missiles for our Fighters, then do we need to also manufacture a torpedo factory?
And for that matter, What does the ship need to have compatablility with? Are we launching these from a station, or a carrier ship? I assume the former.
Lastly, Re-arming, Is there any specifications there? or just whatever we feel is appropriate?
I don't want to run the risk of building a ship that cannot perform every possible task, and as someone who has yet to play multiplayer, I imagine there are a lot of situations that I have not encountered.
Thanks in advance for any feedback, and I will begin construction within an hour or so.
The Longbow also has reloadable missile launchers and gatling weapons. If that's insufficient for the contest requirements, then I'm no longer interested in the contest.
