Why these settings?
  • You will no longer see objects breaking (No FPS drops while raid towers are demolished)
  • Long distance fights you'll be able to see trough certain trees and bushes (200-300m)
  • Sound will be improved if you've forgotten to use the optimal settings.
  • The game won't look bad, it still looks beautiful.
  • You will reach 150+ FPS with a decent PC, if you have a low end PC then you might consider lowering your resolution to be able to reach a stabile FPS above your display's refresh rate.

Resolution
If you play other competitve games on a lower resolution you might consider lowering it, some of the best players in Rust play on lower resolution in order to maximize FPS, however its not worth it if you're playing on a 60Hz screen (unless you have problems reaching 60FPS)

You can change your resolution when you start rust, however if you want to remove black bars then do this.

NVIDIA

  1. Right click on your desktop background.
  2. Click "NVIDIA Control Panel"
  3. Click "Change Resolution"
  4. On the bottom left click "Customize"
  5. Adjust it to what you want, however it must be the same as when you start rust
    (1440x1080 recommended)

AMD

  1. Right click on your desktop background.
  2. Click "AMD Catalyst Control Center"
  3. Click "My Digital Flat-Panels"
  4. Click "Custom Resolutions (Digital Flat-Panel)"
  5. Adjust it to what you want, however it must be the same as when you start rust
    (1440x1080 recommended)

If you want better FPS upgrade your CPU, of course make sure it's compatible with other components. If you are on AM4 right now I recommend the 5800x3d. If you are on AM5 get either the 7800x3d or the 7950x3d. With these 3 CPU's you are gaurenteed above 160 on non-demanding servers. Above 100 on the competitive scene.
