Installation Guide
Skyrim Together Reborn Ver 1.2 - 15 July, 2022

The below instructions are for those who are fairly experienced modders already. If you are not very good at modding or computers, it is highly recommended you watch the installation video guide instead:

If you are using MO2, follow the Mod Organizer 2 installation guide instead, located in the section of this guide titled "Using MO2"

! DO NOT perform this installation PRIOR to running Skyrim. Run the game and complete the Helgen opening segment of the game first to prevent issues. !

Installation
To install Skyrim Together Reborn, it is recommended you use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2. The mod requires another mod to load, Address Library[www.nexusmods.com]

You need to download the All in one (Anniversary Edition) version. Use the "Mod Manager Download" button to install it with your mod manager of choice.

You can download Together Reborn on nexus here[www.nexusmods.com]

Once the mod is installed and enabled, you can find SkyrimTogether.exe in your Skyrim game folder. This can be found at Data/SkyrimTogetherReborn/SkyrimTogether.exe .You can either configure your mod manager to add a launch button for this executable, or you can create a desktop shortcut by right clicking it.

When you launch the mod for the first time, it will most likely ask you to find SkyrimSE.exe .If it did not automatically find the correct folder and you do not know where this is, go to Steam, right click "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition", click "Manage", and click "Browse local files". Copy the location of this over to the prompt.

To open the UI, either use the Right-CTRL key or the F2 key.

! DO NOT select SkyrimSELauncher.exe! If you did, or if you made another wrong selection, hold spacebar and double click SkyrimTogether.exe . This allows you to reselect your game. !

If Using MO2
Installing this mod with Mod Organizer 2 instead of Vortex is a little different.

First, download Skyrim Together Reborn as you would with Vortex, through Mod Manager Download. You will get a warning about a data folder. You can simply click "OK".

Then, click the yellow folder button and select "Open mods folder".

Navigate to the SkyrimTogetherReborn folder and copy that path. You'll need it later.
Next, click the executables dropdown and hit "Edit".

Next, click the plus icon, and hit Add from file...

Next, navigate to the SkyrimTogetherReborn folder you found earlier and double click SkyrimTogether.exe.

Finally, press Apply, close the window, and select the Skyrim Together profile.
Address Library Error
There are several different causes for the "address library not loading" error. This page covers those, and how to solve it.

Wrong address library version
You need to install All in one (Anniversary Edition), not All in one (Special Edition).

Skyrim 1.5
You used the downgrade patcher, and are running Skyrim Special Edition 1.5. If you did, go to steam, and verify Skyrim's game files to install the latest version of Special Edition, 1.6.

Wrong game selection
When you launched Skyrim Together for the first time, you did not select SkyrimSE.exe when the selection popped up. You can fix this by going to SkyrimTogether.exe and double clicking it while holding spacebar. This should reopen the selection menu. Select SkyrimSE.exe this time.

Mod Organizer 2
Go to Mo2, right click Address Library for SKSE Plugins, open file explorer, once there - copy the SKSE folder, go to \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data, and paste the SKSE folder into the DATA FOLDER.

Other
If you still get this error, check the path located at the bottom of the error, and verify that address library is actually installed there.
Server Guide
Hosting a server
To host a server, you have two options: you can use a (free) server provider or you can host your own server.

Third party server hosting
If you decide to go with a server provider, it is recommended you go with https://playtogether.gg/ (a free, Skyrim Together specific server hosting website). The setup for server hosting is significantly easier, so consider this option if you are not very handy with computers.

Hosting your own server
You can also choose to run the server yourself. You can either run the server exe on Windows, SkyrimTogetherServer.exe, or you can use the docker image provided here[hub.docker.com] to run the server on Linux. By default, the server runs on port 10578.

To host a server for people outside of your local network to connect to, you need to use Hamachi (scroll down for a hamachi guide below), or you need to port forward if you don't know already know how (port forward guide).

Hamachi Guide
Download Hamachi from https://www.vpn.net/ and follow the tutorial linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWbo0gcFqA8. Once you open Hamachi and log in, copy your IPv4 from Hamachi and add :10578 to the end of it. After this, run the server exe file. Following this, load up your game (with a fresh save, after Helgen) and hit right control (rctrl), go to the connect tab and enter with localhost. Have others join with the IPv4 with the port :10578 (if the localhost doesn't work, try using the IPv4 you got from Hamachi and use that instead.)

Windows Hosting on Local Network
To host a server within your local network (aka playing with other people in your house), simply launch the server application, SkyrimTogetherServer.exe, and have other people in your house connect to your local IP address which can be found by opening up the Command Prompt via your Windows Start menu. Type in “ipconfig” and hit Enter. Look for the line that reads “IPv4 Address.” The number across from that text is your local IP address.

Server Configuration
To configure the server, simply go to the folder where Skyrim Together is installed, then go into the config folder and open STServer.ini. Here, you can configure all the server settings. Alternatively, you can use the command line in the server console when you have opened the server. Use /help to display all the possible commands.

This Data folder must contain a file called loadorder.txt, which contains the load order that you want to enforce for all users.

Options
Can be set to true or false.

sPassword

Description:
This sets the password that players need to fill in when connecting to the server. Leave this blank if you do not want to set a password on the server. If you do set a password on the server, it will not show up in the serverlist, and people will have to connect manually.

Guidelines & Tips (Important!)
How and when to connect
DO NOT connect to a server while you are still doing the Helgen intro quest. You should ONLY connect after escaping Helgen. To open the UI, either use the Right-CTRL key or the F2 key.

Mods
It is recommended you play without any other mods installed for optimal gameplay. If you do, experiment with very few mods at a time and play with others whom are using the same mods to prevent de-syncing issues.

Questing
!!! If you want an optimal questing experience with the least amount of bugs, crashes and desyncs, read the guidelines below carefully. !!!

How does it work?
The quest sync system works through the party system. When you create a party, you are the party leader. The party leader basically "hosts" the majority of the world. Other party members should be seen as "guests" in the world of the party leader. Whenever the party leader progresses a quest, the other party members also progress their quests automatically.

Guidelines
  1. Only the party leader can talk to quest NPCs to progress quests, and should be the only one to interact with quest scenes (like warding against a firebolt in the "First Lessons" quest).
  2. Only the party leader can loot quest items, like the golden claw.
  3. Stick to one party leader per playthrough, not per session. Changing party leaders will probably break the current quests you're doing, and it might break quests after that.
  4. Stick to one party per server. More parties are technically possible, but it is not recommended if you want to do a quest-heavy playthrough, since they might interfere with each other.

What can you do as a party member?
These are some things you can safely do if you are not the party leader (though the party leader should be present for these things):
  • Kill quest monsters and bosses.
  • Clear quest dungeons.
  • Do quest puzzles.
  • Accidentally starting a quest as a non-leader is not a problem, just make sure you do not progress the quest until the leader has also taken that quest.

What if you get stuck?
In case you get stuck, you can either reload an older save, or use the quest debugger as the party leader. The quest debugger menu can be opened through the debug UI overlay by pressing "F3". This menu can be used to progress a quest stage or teleport quest NPCs to you. Be warned that using the quest debugger might cause the quest to be skipped entirely.

Saving
It is recommended that you save often, and that you leave auto saving enabled, especially before scripted events and before finishing a quest. You can use F5 to quicksave.

Debugger menu
Press "F3" to open the debugger menu. This special UI has menus which can help you get unstuck, either as your character, or quests, etc. The debug UI can be closed by pressing F3 again.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: what is Skyrim Together Reborn?
A: Skyrim Together is a mod that aims to bring co-op to Skyrim. Skyrim Together Reborn is basically the "sequel" to the old Skyrim Together (which some of you may know as "Harbor Edition", "Nightlies", or simply "Old ST"). The code has been rewritten from the ground up, since the old codebase was too messy to work with. This decision has paid off big time, since Skyrim Together Reborn is significantly better than old Skyrim Together. Check the sidebar for the list of features.

Q: what platforms and versions are supported?

A: the ONLY version that is supported, and will most likely ever be supported, is Skyrim Special Edition on Steam, particularly version 1.6. The modding community has mislabeled this as "Anniversary Edition". Anniversary Edition is the combo package of Special Edition and the Anniversary Upgrade. You do not need this to play Skyrim Together Reborn. You only need to buy Special Edition.
VR, console, legendary edition (aka oldrim) and the gamepass version are not and will never be supported.

Q: where can I report bugs and request features?
A: In the comments of this guide or to the issue tracker for bugs and feature requests located on our github page here.[github.com]

Q: what is the recommended amount of players?
A: while we do not have a hard player count limit in theory, for the best experience, we recommend that you play with 2 to 8 people.

Q: can I use other mods with this mod?
A: our official stance is that, for the best, most stable experience, you should not install other mods. You still absolutely can, and our mod also automatically loads SKSE if you have it installed, but we cannot make any guarantees that these mods won't cause stability issues, play nice with our systems, or that their features will sync. This is up to your discretion. We consider Creation Club mods to fall under this same category, including the Anniversary Upgrade mod pack.

Q: will X mod work with this mod?
A: we do not know which mods work well with our mods. No mods are explicitly synced. Mods only sync accidentally. The only way to know whether a mod syncs is by testing it. Graphics mods usually work fine. Other than that, it's hard to tell. Our mod loads SKSE automatically if you have it installed. We have a mod tracker where you can check and submit compatibility of mods, located on our github here[github.com] or you can follow our Mod compatibility section on this guide that we update once confirmed compatible by ourselves and the community. There are a few mods that are blocked by us, since they are inherently incompatible:
  • Engine fixes
  • Skyrim Souls RE
  • Fraps (not a mod, but also blocked)

Q: what operating systems are supported?
A: for the mod itself you will need Windows 8.1 or higher. Linux support will be something that is currently being tackled by the community on our GitHub. The server runs on both Windows and Linux, however.
Supported Versions

I've been trying to get STR to work and I keep getting this error about "The procedure entry point LdrGetDllFullName could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll" I've tried looking up solutions and can't find anything specific. I've tried running as admin and in compatability mode and still nothing. I followed the steps for MO2 and nada. A tiny window pops up for a second then vanishes and it wont load and when I try clicking on the STR.exe from the MO2 mod folder directly I get that error. This is on Windows 7 with a nvidia geforce 1080 armor TI

Hey there! so i have trouble launching the game, andi know why and its a stupid mistake.
At the end, you said make sure to pick the right one at the select game executable skyrimSE, and my stupid brain picked the wrong one.

now i can't seem to get the choice to change this anywhere. Even after uninstalling and removing the mods and the game.

Anyone knows how to fix this? thanks in advance
󠀡 Jul 15, 2022 @ 4:04pm
they fixed a bit of bugs in the 1.2.0 update. like enemies not dying at 0, prisoner transport sync, world encounter sync, enemies aggro everyone now etc.
Sovontor Jul 14, 2022 @ 6:11pm
like comment beneath me says, lots of bugs like no animations where npc's slide around in a random pose. sometimes npc's dont die, their health bar will disappear but will continue fighting and not die until you leave the area and come back, the teleport feature takes a couple times to actually go to the person you teleport to, the first teleport for me basically puts me somewhere random. and lots of crashing. it is still an upgrade from the previous skyrim together, i just hope it gets more polished- as much as you can in a bethesda game anyway.
Crazyfrod Jul 14, 2022 @ 9:06am
Seem to be getting a bug where everyone slides around, no animation, including co-op partner, im joining his game.

@Proxy ok, thank you so much!
