Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2

Using Mods
I'm a beginner user of TF2 Mods and I was able to download some mods using the Modboy app from the GameBanana website. But unfortunately the mods aren't functioning at all. I may need some help. Any modders in the community who could lend a hand?

Usually Mods go into the "custom" folder in the Team Fortress 2/tf folder. If you dont have a custom folder in there, you can simply create one, that will work too. you need to put your folder with the mod into the custom folder, and then it should work. Also note that some mods may are a .rar or .7z file, if so, you need WinRAR or 7-Zip to unzip the file.
to acces the Team Fortress 2 files easy, right click Team Fortress 2 in your Library, click Properties, then head to Local Data, and from there you can get into it. when you are at the Team Fortress 2 folder, simply head to the "tf" folder, then search for the custom folder. if you dont have it, like i said just create a folder called custom.

I was able to do that, but again, the mods don't seem to be functioning. Skin mods in particular. Like for instance, converting the pistol into a colt or a desert eagle.

havin' correctly installed the mods, go into offline practice with bots and then queue for casual. valve servers have sv_pure 1 enabled which disables mods, but goin' into a community server (which has sv_pure 0; some community servers have it set to 1) or offline practice is a workaround to make the mods work. however, do be aware not every mod will work after doin' this, some of them are destined to ever function on valve official servers

official servers dont allow mods. Try it out on a community server. if it still doesnt work, then idk whats wrong.

OBJECTION!

Sv_pue 1 on Valve servers blocks only some addon types, which can be exploited. This includes model texture and sound types addons.

yeah, i think it only blocks models and sounds. HUDs work fine without any exploits.
If you want to get the models in a valve server you need to go into a sv_pure 0 server first, then the models should show in official servers too. however, im not sure if the sounds will.

I was afraid you'd say that. Damn sv_pure 1 is in Skial servers.
