Where can I find the maps downloaded from the workshop?

Google says that in the folder garrysmod/addons or garrysmod/maps. But I didn't find the map I needed (gm_bigcity_improved.bsp interests me). A search in the explorer also yielded nothing. The map is activated.. Where can it be located?

I don't think you have access to the BSP, it would be packed into the .gma (addon file) of bigcity. (GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons)

How do you extract it? I have no idea, but I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials out there.

But before you do anything with it I'd suggest asking for permission to edit the file, as it seems that's what you're planning to do. (Plagiarism is bad )

You need to extract from .gma extension using gmad.

No, I don't want to do plagiarism :) I just want to try to modify the map for myself for fun

If you find a way to extract the BSP from the GMA, you can try this method to turn the BSP into a VMF (so it is editable in hammer editor)

I'm pretty sure I've done this method before with my map, but because I have the memory of a sea anemone I don't remember how to extract the GMA, but I'm 90% sure I used the software in this video. (BSP source)

legacy addons use the "addons" folder while addons created past the workshop update will be stored in the "workshop" folder in "steamapps".
to find a map uploaded ahead of the workshop update, grab the ID of the addon and search for a matching folder in "4000".
