After a great success on capturing an enemy MBT, and ambitious plan on capturing Kastro Castle and fortifying it went wrong by a bad chosen route. Crossfire between Kavala Sea Port and near Factory nailed us to death.
We lost valuable stuff, 2 x Static AA, 1 x Mortars and a few good men. FIA funds are back to scratch, and Kavala population decided to join AAF.
Panachori suffered another punishment and this time, the garrison wasn't enough.
Good news: NV and some grenades unlocked. NATO first interventions made some damage to AAF assets.
Intel reports foun in one Outpost revealed AAF is ready for an assault and they have some attack choppers in reserve.
We need AA, ATs and more rifles.
The whole AO is a battlefield.
There are constant pushes forward / backward the south Kavala area.
Finally, after loosing terrain, FIA soldiers had to take a break, they fought well, and killed a lot of enemies.
After that break, commander Alber sent a group to make a coup on Kastro Castle, this time it was a succesful action. We had the chance of garrison it. Now Kavala can become a kill zone, with mortar, AA and MG support.
We must hold that castle at all costs!!!
Intel found in the castle revealed AAF lack of APCs. Maybe it's time for bigger scale actions. Northern powerplant is a top target. If we conquer it, we will raise a lot NATO and civilian support in the area, plus will make serious damage to AAF economy.
Logisics got improved too: now we have decent rifles for AI and MRCO scopes. Still lack of AT / AA rocket launchers. Unlocking PCMLs is a top priority.
Victory Over Kavala
After a few days of hard fighting the FIA forces were getting used to the taste of defeat. Multiple successes in the Kavala AO were thrawted time and time again by interviening AAF attacks to reclaim hard fought for ground. Things were about to change.
Due to the hard work by commander Alberto and his merry band of widomakers the AAF were running out of manpower and tanks to send in response to the ever persistent FIA efforts.
This left an opening; would the FIA forces capitalise on this brief opportunity to strike?
Of course they would.
In commander Alberto's absence Sgt Richard stepped up leading 5 of the FIA's most tenacious individuals on an epic crusade to take back the AO once and for all.
Well placed mines on the northern MSR would allow a heavy convoy to be ambushed. Recovering TWO APC's and TWO MRAPS this left thew FIA in a far better position. Those outposts that were causing so many problems, captured. Those resources so badly needed, now ours.
Yes there were many deaths, more than could be counted but important strategic points were captured. Their strategies were always simple, but effective: Set up decent firesupport and attack with a small fireteam.
The last effort of the day was an assault on the Eastern base and Powerplant. This was one of the hardest yet. It was down to some excellent sniping by Pvt Hawkeye and accurate mortar fire by Pvt Executor that allowed the Sgt and another two faithful followers to mount their assault. Pvt David took a round to the head just as the tower was being assaulted so pvt Executor stood up to the task and completed what was a hard final attack.
There were of course others a long the way who played and important part, but for now things are looking far better for the FIA.
The AO must be secured and roadblocks must be placed in order to maintain the monemtum we have built.
We now look forward to securing the northern Agelichori Base in the not too distant future.
Battle of Therisa Airfield
Having joined from the backlash of the capture of the southern peninsula, a small team would embark on what they considered a one way trip to attack Therisa Airfield with one main goal: the capture of several AAF helicopters.
A few mortars were employed in order to thin out the remaining troops left from previous efforts. Concentrated sniper fire on pilots ensured the three remining helicopters on the strip would be unable to fly to safety.
The attack took an hour or so and there were many deaths but the main effort was achieved. Sgt Richard is pleased to report that all three helicopters were succesfully captured (one mohawk and two hellcats) and are safely within his posession at the HQ garage.
Many thanks to those who helped achive this small but important objective. These assets will prove useful in the battles to come, whether used to infiltrate behind enemy lines or ferry troops to and from the battlefield.
This war is about to end before Commander Albr finishes it's last tactic procedures, keep the pressure up, but not too much!!
In other words, wait a few patches before taking the airport!!!! :)
