What if this were a set?
You know, these two items go together like a set should. So, if this were a set, what would its stats be? I was thinking:
+30% Faster movement (since a pirate should be able to go fast, unlike the Soldier)
+20% More melee damage (since a pirate's main weapon is his sword)
-20% more damage taken (since the set basically turns the Soldier's uniform into a coat)

+ a Pirate sword to the set

Those stats make Soldier unbalanced. There should be a third item for set,i agree whith the idea of saber.
SeductiveShuckle 9. juni 2013 kl. 13:09
yeah add a cool sword to the equation and you got a deal

"+30% Faster movement", more damage dealt *and* less damage taken? Why do people always make up such ridiculous stats.

Also, coats and other torso cosmetic items have always so far been miscs items.
Otherwise I would demand that the Heavy's flak vest gives him 20% damage resistance.

This would be quite good to add in considering how the Demoman already has a Pirate-themed set of weapons aswell as items. And seeing as how the Soldier and Demoman are in-game canon rivals, it would only make sense for the Demoman (Pirate) and Soldier (Spainard) to take on some equally rival esque costumes.

Put it with a Secondary Boot (like mantreads and gunboats) for the speed boost and a melee weapon that fits and make the full set do something more like a taunt and you'd be much more balanced. Most sets only offer minor stat changes, not something major. Also, 30% speed boost would make him faster than the medic, making him the second fastest class from the second slowest... Demo needs heads to do that, it needs some limit, not just a set. Lastly, just take away some health, don't make him take more damage, just make him start with 25 less HP.

This would be amazing

Well, let's think of the 20% less damage resistance. Think of it this way: You are a soldier in a heated battle, with nothing but a Spanish coat as protection. 20% is a very minor drawback.

Also, the 30% higher speed would actually help the entire team, because in the middle of a match that's about to end, the Soldier can come in and deliver that one badly needed crocket to win the match.

And do it very quickly.

Also, TF2 is a world where you can shoot people by pointing at them, build machines of mass destruction by hitting a toolbox 24 times, and thwart a robot invasion with six people, so don't give me any BS about logic.

you should add the flintlock pistol
Woody 10. juni 2013 kl. 10:16
Those stats would be overpowered. He'd be too fast. That has nothing to do with logic, but with balance.
Ville. 10. juni 2013 kl. 13:17
Would be cool!
