A tornado doesn't care about your little hamlet. A tsunami can wipe a small town off the map. You need early solutions for whenever a disaster strikes. While there really isn't a need for air raid sirens and fallout shelters [yet], the government still wants you to be prepared for when tragedy strikes.

Enter the Early Bird Civil Defense System. A small fallout shelter (known as a "small vault") that can hold around half the number of citizens safely and can easily fit into small towns without blowing the budget. But it's a bit of a waste if you don't have the means to alert people, right? So we're also including two air sirens for you to place in your cities; A Thunderbolt and a 2T22 (Yes, North American Sirens) that act as short-range radio masts that cost much less and have slightly less "broadcast strength" than their radio counterparts... But even a wailing siren warning of an incoming twister or killer wave is better than nothing at all.

Unlike most of my other items on the workshop, I will try to return to this one to add in the appropriate sound effects for the sirens, that is, once I can figure out how to add custom sounds to a specific asset rather than trying to replace game files.

why would you replace game files? sounds like a lot of unnesessary issues...., why not use and apply the same sound mechanism the original game shelters (at least the large ones) use?

these will as soon as you press the emergency/evacuate button audibly sound a siren locally and you can hear that around the shelters for yourself, so it should be addable to these custom poles/shelters without to much issues, though i would suggest upping the volume/sound radius and if possible use the correct (custom) sounds if possible (as well for the vanilla shelters imho), but below i read you cant so use custom sounds so the ingame siren sounds should do just fine.

the trigger would be the same as the orignal shelters, the "öh shït" or... "not again" button.

just my 2 cents though...

@Althazar Can't you just replace the game files? If you replaced the game files, than any radio transmitter in the game would also emit the siren sound, but thats ok. Since we have this mod, no one would want regular radio towers anyway, and would replace them all with sirens, so replacing the game files to get it to work makes sense.

that sucks. i wanna hear it scream. just wait. im sure they will do that eventualy.

@Grave Rober: Unfortunately, I can't add custom sound effects to give it the actual ability to alert people like a real siren would.

Which is a real bummer because I actually have sounds of these siren types saved on my computer. =(
