EdB Prepare Carefully

Customize your RimWorld colonists, choose your gear and prepare carefully for your crash landing! Use the optional point limits to try to create a balanced start or keep points disabled to build the starting group that you always wanted to try. Save your setup as a preset so that you can start your game the same way later.

Where's the 1.0 Version?
Working on it. If you're comfortable with manually installing mods, you can download a test version from github, but be aware that it's a test version--it has some known issues that's I'm working on: https://github.com/edbmods/EdBPrepareCarefully/releases

The 1.0 version of the mod will not be released here on the workshop until the 1.0 release of the game is no longer "unstable".

Why doesn't the "Prepare Carefully" button appear for me?
First and foremost, make sure that you've enabled the mod! This will be obvious to experienced mod users, but if you're new to RimWorld mods, you need to go into the Mods menu when you start the game and explicitly enable a mod after you've subscribed to it.

Unfortunately, some mods just don't work well together, and you may have to experiment to find a combination that works.

When I click the Prepare Carefully button, it doesn't do anything. Why doesn't it work?
This almost always happens because another mod is doing something that Prepare Carefully does not expect, and it causes an error. It's impossible for me to test with every mod out there, so issues like this are inevitable. However, I do try to continue to improve the error handling in the mod to try to avoid them.

How do I help you figure out which mod is causing the problem?
You may need to experiment to figure out which mod is causing the problem. If you have development mode enabled, you'll likely see some clues about where the error is happening. If you figure out which mod it is, you can let me know, and I'll try to take a look. Which other mods don't work with Prepare Carefully for B18?
The following mods are known to cause issues and may result in an error when you click the "Prepare Carefully" button:
  • Psychology
  • Lord of the Rims - The Third Age

We're always trying to make Prepare Carefully compatible with as many other mods as possible. Expect better compatibility with the 1.0 release.

I'm using point limits. Why does {insert thing here} cost the number of points that it does? It should cost more/less.
The point system relies on the vanilla game's built-in "market values." These market values are balanced for vanilla gameplay and not for setting up a starting group of colonists. I've made some tweaks to try to balance this, but it really is an impossible task, and you will see things that seem wrong. For example, the vanilla values for colonists do not take passions or traits into account (for the most part). I've added costs for passions, but I've left traits alone.

Great Mod. I'm mostly playing Unstable 1.0 atm but I keep having ideas that I want to try in this mod, I'm currently switching my version back and fore when I want to try these ideas. Can't wait for the full 1.0 release of the vanilla game and the update to this mod. Thank you very much to the creator :)

I press prepare carefully it sits for a few seconds then does nothing (using beta 18 version)

Update/Downdate from 1.0 to 0.19 please for the unstable version. They changed it from 1.0 to 0.19.

Hey. I don't know wether or not this is a common issue, but I have noticed that whenver I apply any stat multipliers to a scenario they don't work if I decide to use edb. For instance, let's say I add "stat multplier carrying capacity" by 100%. If I choose to not roll with edb and use any randomized colonists, the stat multiplier will be applied and carry weight increased. If I enter the edb prep carefully mod and make any modifciations to items, stats, traits etc, the stat multiplier is not applied. Do you have any solution to this? Could there be a mod conflict?
