USN Mk. 6 Depth Charge

US Navy (WWII) Collection

Description
During World War I, the US Navy designed a form of depth charge based on British designs in early 1917 following the first successful sinking of U-Boat UB-29 in December of 1916 by the British. The 300 pound glorified barrel included a hydrostatic fuse which could explode at depths of up to 300 feet.

Yet by World War II, little more had been done with the design until the introduction of the Mk 9 'teardrop' variant in 1943.

This depth charge is wholly thanks to the excellent original work of Beef Chungus, but has been modified to be used with my Y-Gun design. See the original here:

One can still set a particular depth as they wish using the provided keypad.

And see the Y-Gun thrower it can be used with here:

Also see the Mk3 Depth Charge Track that can use these for a more standard approach here:

Hey there Wild Ace,
They are easily detonated via depth. They are defaulted at -10m below any water surface, and can be changed via the side keypad to whatever depth is preferred.

how does one get it to detonate

@NTSFMagellan
I could certainly contrive something. But I do want to create the Mk 9 first which was preferably used on the roll offs before making the associated system. Thanks for the interest and stay tuned!
