Amtrak P40DC No. 819

Beskrivning
(Requires Space's P42DC Livery Support).

(This is my first attempt at a Phase 3 Genesis engine, with thanks to Space for helping me find the gradient tool in Photoshop).

P40DC No. 819 was built by General Electric in 1993, as one of at least forty-four P40DC locomotives built for Amtrak (originally designated as AMD-103). Her first revenue-earning run was on September 3rd, 1993, but her service life would be cut extremely short before September 1993 had even passed into October.

On the 22nd of September, 1993, AMTK 819 was leading the Sunset Limited train from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, California (along with F40PHs 262 and 312). The train was delayed in New Orleans, apparently due to a faulty toilet in one of the coaches. Unfortunately this delay, combined with a tugboat getting lost in the fog and crashing into a bridge, resulted in the Big Bayou Canot train derailment; the worst wreck in Amtrak history. Just to be clear, I mean absolutely no disrepect to the victims of the Big Bayou Canot accident.

All three engines - the P40DC and two F40PHs - were written off and scrapped after the accident, with 819's service life having lasted a mere 19 days.
