Place Mark at Cursor

Description
Note:
Mod has outdated lua version info here, so grab it from Paradox Plaza (should be accessible in in-game mod manager on all platforms), where someone helpfully uploaded updated version (thanks!).

Adds Ctrl+<number> hotkeys to color hex tile where cursor points to.
Pressing color hotkey on the same hex removes it, Ctrl+0 removes all colored tiles.

Point is to highlight any kind of service-reach or future-placement hexes easily,
or just doodle on the map at your leisure while drones and colonists are hard at work.

List of drawing crayons:

- Ctrl+1 - Crimson #e6194b
- Ctrl+2 - Maroon #800000
- Ctrl+3 - Royal Blue #4363d8
- Ctrl+4 - Navy Blue #000075
- Ctrl+5 - Chateau Green #3cb44b
- Ctrl+6 - Teal #008080
- Ctrl+7 - Green #00ff00
- Ctrl+8 - Black #000000
- Ctrl+9 - Mint Green #aaffc3
- Ctrl+0 - mass-eraser (careful, removes all paint marks on the map!)

They all look kinda neon too.
Keys can be redefined via the usual options menu.

Why these colors? - picked at random to be somewhat distinct.
Why hexes? - easier to mark game-related things with these.
Why paint? - placing stuff on plain ground within unmarked reach of multple things is hard.
Why Marx? - wanted to spell "❤ marks" but thought to shorten it a bit.

Checked to be compatible with Gagarin / Space Race update 237,920, and probably later versions.

@mk-fg Thanks! I can certainly confirm that changing the revision number fixed the issue for anybody wondering what the solution is.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to upload the updated mod to the steam workshop otherwise I would do so for future people.

@Ty
Not much I'm afraid, and you probably figured something out by now, but I'd recommend doing what @Inflatablemouse (probably) did and simply update lua_revision number in metadata.lua, and it should probably work fine, as it's a very simple mod, not changing anything in the game itself.
Would be great if you/someone can also use bundled modding tool to re-upload it, so that others can use the fixed version too, as idk if I'll get back to the game - there's always plenty of other/new things to play, and never enough time.

Chances of an update?

I'm a planner, I like to plan out my bases, exactly where I want to put everything. This was the best mod for doing that and I was sad that when I returned to SM today it no longer worked.

Nevermind, it worked, it was in a file LuaRevision.txt in ..\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Surviving Mars\ModTools.

I find this is one of my favorite mods to plan building a base. Using different colors for marking grids, service areas for drone hubs and domes. I love it :).

Thanks!

Thanks, I hadn't noticed the Github links. I'll give it a shot but where do I find the current revision number that I need to put into metadata.lua?

There's a github link just above comment box in the description, and you can totally unpack it from .hpk as well.

Don't have SM installed atm, so can't test/update, but it worked for me some months ago so lua_revision number in metadata.lua might be the only "incompatible" thing.
I think github has newer version than uploaded here, and if that's still too old, bump that aforementioned value up to something more current and suspect it should work.
Feel free to re-upload fixed version too, I don't mind at all.

Hi, will you be updating the mod, here on paradox plaza or perhaps open source it on github so someone else might be able to pick it up? thanks!

Cool, thanks for the info m8!
mk-fg  [author] Mar 17, 2020 @ 6:55pm
Yeah, sorry, that one :)
I think it's built into SM mod manager on all platforms now

What's plaza? Paradox Plaza?
