Fortress Chinook Artillery Carrier

Description
This tech is a combination of the Fortress Chinook MkI and the Fortress Artillery MkI. The Artillery's main weakness was its difficulty making it over rough terrain. This weakness is eliminated by the addition of a Chinook carrier on the back. The Chinook can carry and deploy the Artillery into the drop zone much faster than the Artillery could on its own. Press X to deploy the Artillery. It is recommended that you deploy the Artillery before its fuel reserves are depleted.

This tech uses the hover bug, but traditional roll and pitch controls still work while in the air. Keep the tech level until about 500 or 600 feet, then angle it down slightly to get higher speeds. Once the Artillery is deployed, the pitch controls are reversed on the Chinook.

This is the new version, and thanks to a suggestion by MindlessMrAwesome, I added the hover bug to the Chinook. This caused an extreme increase in turn rate. I also increased the fuel storage so that the thrusters will last longer while the Artillery is attached to the Chinook.

Also, here's a clarification based on a comment on the last model; this is a long range artillery. In short range combat it is mostly useless on its own. The point of this design was to blow your enemy up from way, way off, then move into to collect the goods.

yoooo @PAJ I just made something really cool

So I was thinking about your tech and how the chinook wasn't reusable... so I decided "hey I can make one that can, it shouldn't be too hard..."

one full week of working on it and 60+ hours later, here it is... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1476755394

They've said that they plan to release many more updates, and have also released news about things they plan to bring into the game in the future. 1.0 doesn't mean they're done with the game, it means they're at a place were they feel confident with an official release.

@PAJ329 with the game due to release in three days, and the lack of content in the latest patches, I'd be surprised if the devs do any more actual work on it rather than dumping TT in favour of some other new projects

If you want to switch it so that the Chopper is in control when you drop, then when you spawn it remove the AI cab on the front of the tank, then put it back where it was. This will switch the main AI to the one on the chopper.

Yeah, it's because the Game's Ai's currently leave much to be desired. If they release an ai patch at some point the chopper will behave differently. You could switch to the chopper immediately after releasing the tank, but the AI's aren't designed to fire beyond a certain range so the tank won't be as effective.

Still very cool :D

Personally I feel it would make more sense to stay in control of the carrier when you drop the tank? And have the tank Auto Pilot itself at enemies. Currently the carrier just sort of nose dives after it drops it off, doesnt have hover plates and gyroscopes to keep it steady.
