Description
Mining megastructure for playing tall empires! (v2.1.3 Compatible)

This mod adds a "Planet Cracker" megastructure that lets you mine entire planets.

It is a more advanced version of my basic mod "Planet Cracker Megastructure" found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1525875181

Im planing on adding some events and more content, but since im in the process of "learning by doing" it is taking it's time...

In general the construction of a planet Cracker has two main stages and one optional stage 3:

Stage 1: is basically just the construction of the platform (cost 5000 minerals)

Stage 2: "cracks the planet" and produces the minerals (cost 5000 energy)
- It produces 100 minerals and has an upkeep of 50 energy

Stage 3: constructs a small (4 tiles) "Mining Colony" on the planets surface (cost 2500 minerals)
- This is optional but it improves the mineral production by 10% without affecting the upkeep. It also grants a resource depot (Empire modifier: +5000 Minerals and +2500 Energy)


As you may never know what lurks beneath the surface of certain planets, one should be careful what planets to crack…. or at least in the near future...
---> The current goals for this mod will be to add some "Dead Space” event line which might be triggered by the construction of a planet cracker. (in progress)

But a geothermal well would have to be some kind of structure on the surface of the planet?! The problem I'm having right now, is that the planet cracker is suppose to be a tradeoff between minerals or energy. It gives you the opportunity to exchange energy for minerals instead of having to trade them for a bad exchange rate. If I add an energy output as well it becomes to unbalanced. What could be a solution, is to make it so you can upgrade it to be either planet cracker which extracts the geothermal energy (producing energy) or one extracting minerals.

Seems like a paradox to have once after it is cracked... since you are extracting from the mineral rich core. I was thinking.. of a planet tapper instead of cracker. Taps in with geothermal wells.

I might think about adding a special Building for the Mining Colony, which might exploid the geothermal Energy of the core :)

Perhaps change the descriptive text to just "For planetoid scale mining" since the name is already descriptive.

A suggestion, you could also have energy harvesting.. that exploits the geothermal energy from the molten core of a planetoid that must have certain properties first.

Yes you do, but there is plenty of them out there. It's just a limitation so you can't spam to many of them into a single system.
